      Key job responsibilities

      1. Design, develop, deploy and maintain high impact customer features that delight our customers.
      2. Keep eeroOS, our Linux-based operating system, innovative and running at peak performance.
      3. Maintain and continuously improve build tools and automation infrastructure.
      4. Improve engineering processes and tools to accelerate software development velocity and code quality.
      5. Analyze data collected from beta, field testers, and production to make decisions to improve our software and user experience.
      6. Work closely with hardware to resolve low-level issues during bring-up and field deployments.
      7. Work with manufacturing and operations to ensure we can continue to ship high quality products.
      8. Lead and mentor junior engineers on projects.

      A day in the life

      The Connectivity team at eero is looking for an experienced engineer to join the Platform Software Development team. The Platform team is responsible for the operating system which powers all eero devices, software build infrastructure which is used by teams developing features on the eero devices, Smart Home Hub, Automation and Tooling.

      A SDE on the platform team develops applications and features in Golang and Python on eero's operating system which spans across all eero hardware and is also responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the eeroOS operating system and build infrastructure.

      BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

      1. 4+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
      2. 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems.
      3. Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
      4. Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field (In lieu of degree, 4 years of relevant work experience).
      5. 4+ years of systems programming experience on Linux systems.
      6. 3+ years experience writing high quality code in C or C++ and Go and/or Python.

      PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

      1. 4+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
      2. Experience with network stack/socket programming protocol development or any previous middleware development.
      3. 4+ years maintaining and improving build infrastructure such as Yocto, OpenWRT.
      4. 2+ years experience with Linux kernel and Linux device drivers.
      5. 1+ years of experience with Jenkins and CI infrastructure.
      6. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple, competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
      7. Experience designing software architectures for scalability, reliability, and performance.
