      The Opportunity

      Within defined guidelines and framework, Software Engineers provides support to the Enterprise through delivering best in class technology solutions. Engaged in all phases of the software systems and application development lifecycle which include gathering and analyzing requirements, designing, testing, documenting, and implementing software, responding to outages.

      We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. We are seeking a dedicated Software Engineer based in the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX.

      What you'll do:

      • Identifies and manages existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role

      • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled

      • Follows written risk and compliance policies, standards, and procedures for business activities

      • Under direct supervision, design, develop, code, and test technical solutions

      • Write code to deliver features, and improvements, on a regular basis

      • Verify and resolve technical problems and production issues through troubleshooting techniques

      • Improve application stability and scalability

      • Create and maintain technical documentation

      • Create and improve automated tests and code quality

      • Writing both frontend and backend code – this task can be combined with 2nd task.

      What you have:

      • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems or related information technology field at a 4-year accredited university

      • Graduation date cannot exceed more than 12 months at time of application

      • Incoming hires must have a completed college degree by employment start date

      • Up to 2 years of software development experience

      • Proven learning ability and problem-solving skills

      • Basic Understanding of one or more of the following: Java, Swift, Objective-C, Cobol, JavaScript, Kotlin, C++, HTML, CSS, SQL

      What we offer:

      Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $70,000 - $75,0000.

      Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
