- Passion for building reliable, maintainable, scalable, and secure systems
- Familiarity with version control, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure
- Experience with administrative access to production systems or sensitive data
- Knowledge of compliance, risk, or data governance workflows
- Frontend experience (e.g., React, TypeScript)
- Interest in distributed systems or large-scale platforms
- Experience with cloud providers like AWS, GCP, or Azure

This role is part of a team within the Developer Experience pillar at Slack, responsible for building and maintaining critical internal tools that support operational excellence and insights across the company. This high-impact team enables Slack engineers to solve complex customer issues confidently. We are expanding our scope to include internal tools with sensitive production access, requiring engineers who are thoughtful, reliable, and security-minded. We collaborate closely with engineering, customer experience, and compliance teams.
Our team is distributed across the US and Canada, including backend and frontend developers, as well as data engineers.
About the Role
We are hiring a Software Engineer II to build and operate secure, reliable internal tools at Slack. You will manage tools that serve as gateways to Slack's critical internal operations, requiring precision, trust, and a security-first approach. This is a highly visible role, with tools used daily by hundreds of Slack engineers and support agents. You will contribute to systems that help resolve issues quickly, safely, and confidently.
You will work closely with senior engineers and partner teams, writing high-quality, maintainable code and fostering a culture of reliability, observability, and security. You will have ownership of projects supported by a collaborative team.
