      Job Description

      As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Infrastructure Platforms, you will play a crucial role in an agile team that is dedicated to developing, enhancing, and delivering trusted, top-tier technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable manner. As a key technical contributor, your responsibilities will include developing vital technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions to support the firm's business goals. Being a part of the Messaging product team, you will collaborate with a cross-functional group that takes comprehensive responsibility for the Messaging products at the firm. Your role will involve engineering scalable, resilient, secure, and supportable RabbitMQ, Simple Queue Service (SQS), and AmazonMQ services across public and private cloud providers.

      Job responsibilities

      • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
      • Engineer enhancements that traverse a diverse software stack.
      • Being a culture carrier for modern development practices and agile principles including disciplined refinement and story splitting, pair programming, test driven development, and clean code.
      • Being a culture carrier for an inclusive and collaborative team-based development model that experiments and learns from setbacks.
      • Automating Infrastructure-as-code, using Terraform
      • Automating the installation, upgrade, scaling and management of a large and rapidly growing estate of RabbitMQ clusters.
      • Develop a custom platform control plane that provide a secure platform.
      • Define and build value-add services on the platform using cloud-native principles
      • Participate in software and system performance analysis and tuning, service capacity planning and demand forecasting
      • Drive technical innovation and efficiency in infrastructure operations via developing tools and automation
      • Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies

      Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

      • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and applied experience
      • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
      • Proficient in coding in one or more modern programming languages, ideally Java.
      • Experience working with modern private & public cloud infrastructure platforms - AWS EC2/EKS/ECS, and AWS serverless components such as Lambda, SQS, SNS
      • Terraform, Salt Stack, and other automation tools
      • Passionate about learning new skills and technologies
      • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills - desire and expertise to build and solve complex problems in systems at scale

      Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

      • Experience in AWS Architecture design & implementation
      • Experience of Infrastructure as Code
      • Experience of orchestration tools such as Salt Stack or Ansible
      • Experience with RabbitMQ, SQS and AmazonMQ
