      The Opportunity

      We are seeking a talented and experienced Intermediate Level Software Engineer proficient in various aspects of DevSecOps. The ideal candidate will work with our Shared Services and Infrastructure DevSecOps team in USAA and demonstrate a disciplined approach to software engineering, have strong Java development experience, familiar with Git (Gitlab preferable) and code management concepts like merging and branching concepts, and have a deep understanding of how CI/CD pipelines work. Responsibilities include designing, developing, and maintaining private or public cloud software tooling solutions to enhance continuous integration and continuous deployment practices. Strong collaboration skills, problem-solving abilities, and a proactive approach to software development are essential and thorough knowledge of SDLC processes.       Within defined guidelines and framework, provides support to the Enterprise through delivering best in class technology solutions. Engaged in all phases of the software systems and application development lifecycle which include gathering and analyzing requirements, designing, testing, documenting, and implementing software, responding to outages.

      We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX or Phoenix, AZ. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

      What you'll do:

      • Design, develop, code, and test technical solutions
      • Write code to deliver features, and improvements, on a regular basis
      • Investigates and resolve technical problems and production issues through troubleshooting techniques
      • Continually improves operations by conducting systems analysis and recommending changes in policies and procedures.
      • Prepares and installs solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.
      • Follows the software development lifecycle.
      • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

      What you have:

      • Bachelor’s Degree or 4 additional years of experience beyond the minimum requirement can be used in lieu of a degree OR Approved certification from CodeUp, Galvanize, VetFIT (Veterans for IT) or eFIT (Employees for IT).
      • 2 years of software development experience specific to a discipline/technology.
      • 1 year of experience delivering technology solutions in all phases of the software systems and application development lifecycle.
      • Basic Understanding of one or more of the following: Java, Swift, Objective-C, Cobol, JavaScript, Kotlin, C++, HTML, CSS, SQL
      • Knowledge and understanding of troubleshooting applications and systems within production issues.
      • Ability to quickly understand applicable business acumen to provide appropriate Engineering solutions
      • Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions.
      • Basic understanding of cloud technologies and tools.

      What sets you apart:

      • 3-5 Years of experience as a Software Engineer with a focus on creating and configuring CI/CD pipelines and Git workflows.
      • Software Engineering experience focused primarily with developing automated DevSecOps tooling solutions
      • Experience with software development languages and services runtimes such as Java, Spring boot, and Python.
      • Demonstrated experience with containerization tools using OpenShift or any Kubernetes implementation like AWS EKS
      • Experience working in a collaborative environment and contributing to a team of highly-skilled software engineers.

      What we offer:

      Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $74,210-$141,830.

      Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
