      Overview Of Position

      At Medifast, Inc, you’ll be part of a growing group of makers, breakers, doers and disruptors, who love to solve real problems and meet real customer needs. We are seeking Software Engineer II who is passionate about marrying data with emerging technologies to join our team.

      Opportunity Highlights

      The Software Engineer IV is passionate about new technologies, driving best practices, and mentoring fellow Engineers. The primary focus will be on establishing standards & best practices, mentoring, driving cross-team code reviews, supporting the other Engineers on their individual projects across the portfolio, research and draft architecture solutions to present to architecture council. This role is 70% “heads down” and 30% cross team collaboration.

      Job Responsibilities:

      • Establish standards, implement code reviews, collaborate on solutions, understand user needs, ensure tech growth, document designs, mentor engineers, and lead with engineering solutions.
      • Work with the team on new projects, from initial development and discovery phases through implementation and deployment of the completed project. Provide production support, enhance monitoring tools, and build automation while utilizing AWS and DevOps best practices.
      • Implement solutions using AWS offerings such as ED2, S3, Lamdba, RDS etc and translate them into well-architected cloud infrastructure.
      • Ensure that the architecture and solutions are compliant with AWS best practices and mitigate any security vulnerabilities that might occur.
      • Serves as Software Engineer for applications under the direction of the Director, Software Engineering. Helps manage the design and development process, drives decisions, and coordinates efforts with fellow team members.
      • Liaises with network administrators, systems analysts, and software engineers to assist in resolving problems with software products or company software/web applications for the purposes of correcting mistakes, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging.

      Knowledge, Education, Skills, and Abilities

      • Bachelor’s Degree required in IT related field
      • 8+ years of experience as an AWS Engineer, including architecture, governance, and compliance.
      • Prior experience as Team Lead, Staff Engineer or higher.
      • Expertise in AWS configuration, AWS Security Hub, AWS Well-Architected frameworks, and AWS Control Tower.
      • Expert in RDS, Redshift, DMS, Kafka including design, optimization, failover, and query performance tuning.
      • Experience with implementing and maintaining highly available mission-critical environments for 24x7 availability.
      • Hands-on experience with Infrastrucure as Code ( IaC ) tools like Terraform and Ansible.
      • Experience of building automated CI/CD pipelines with tools such as; SonarQube, Fortify, Selenium, etc.
      • Leverage AWS-native and third-party observability tools to monitor system performance and ensure proper incident management and response.
      • Strong understanding of DNS, TCP, SSL, Git, Firewalls, networking concepts (VPC, subnetting, VPN, etc.).
      • Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing long-term solutions.
      • Apply FinOps principles to optimize cloud spending and ensure financial accountability in cloud operations.
      • Stay up-to-date with the latest AWS services, features, and trends, continuously evolving the team’s cloud capabilities.
      • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional or similar certification strongly preferred.

      Experience working in an agile development environment(Agile, Scrum or Kanban preferred)
