      Job Summary

      Responsible for end-to-end ownership of projects across the entire stack. Build products with web frameworks, application programming interfaces, databases, and multiple Backend languages. Solve challenges that impact both the front-end and backend architecture, while delivering global customer experiences. Has in-depth experience, knowledge and skills in own discipline. Usually determines own work priorities. Acts as resource for colleagues with less experience.

      About the Team

      Optek’s distributed team is responsible for the development, maintenance, and support of critical hardware and software applications used by 20,000+ field technicians to diagnose and repair customer-impacting issues within the Access Network. Optek also develops and maintains multiple RF monitoring software platforms. These tools provide near real-time analysis of Comcast’s 50 million cable modems and associated network components, detect problems, and notify the correct fix agents. This software developer will be joining our team focusing on the hardware side of our software development team.

      What You'll Do:

      • This is a full stack position. Good understanding of both and no hesitancy in moving between web and backend stack. Open to learning.

      • Work with Lead, Firmware and Mobile team for web feature requests. Implement additions and enhancements to a RESTful microservice tier deployed in AWS.

      • Collaborates with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements. Conducts analysis to determine integration needs.

      • Designs new software, supports applications under development and customizes current applications. Develops software update process for existing applications. Assists in the roll-out of software releases.

      • Keeps current with technological developments within the industry. Monitors and evaluates competitive applications and products. Reviews literature, patents and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects.

      • Assists in tracking and evaluating performance metrics. Ensures team delivers software on time, to specification and within budget.

      • Works with Quality Assurance team to determine if applications fit specification and technical requirements.

      Required Qualifications:

      • Core Java (version 8 or higher)

      • RESTful web services

      • SQL/JDBC

      • Experience with Agile SDLC
