      Overview

      The Research Informatics and Data Science team is a critical part of the Children's Mercy Research Institute (CMRI). The work of the CMRI generates high volume, high complexity data that requires world-class computational capabilities and often requires custom application development. As a Software Engineer, you will work as part of a team creating solutions for the researcher community here at Children’s Mercy. We collaborate directly with our stakeholders to define, design, and build software to make life changing research efficient and effective. We work with a variety of technologies and need someone who is willing to jump in, learn new things, share what you know, and improve the lives of the children we serve.       This position is funded from grant and/or contract funding which is renewed under the provisions of the grantor of the contract. Therefore, is contingent upon continuation of funding of these grants and/or contracts.

      Responsibilities

      • Analyze user requirements, existing software, and emerging technologies to design innovative solutions to meet stakeholder needs. Write high quality code to meet requirements and adhere to team, corporate and industry standards.
      • Ensure operational excellence of the systems we develop.

      • Planning and attending meetings, establishing agendas, providing both written and verbal communications of needs, expectations and issues. Provide feedback and resolution.

      Qualifications

      • Bachelor's Degree Computer or related field and 1-2 years experience
      • HS diploma or equivalent or Associate's degree and 5-7 years experience may be accepted in lieu of a Bachelor's degree
      • Required skills or experience:
        • C# and .NET Platform
        • SQL or NoSQL Databases
        • Software Development Lifecycle Process and Tools
        • Source Code Management Tools
      • Preferred skills or experience:
        • Cloud computing platforms like Azure
        • Access and Identity management tools

      Starting Pay

      Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $33.88/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

      Remote Work/Work from Home

      This position can be entirely remote or work-from-home. The person hired must live in the Kansas City metro area and may attend on-site meetings, as scheduled.
