Interested in being part of a team that’s pushing the bounds of what’s possible with computing?

The AWS Center for Quantum Computing (CQC) is looking for an engineer to join our growing software team. You will work closely with our experimental and theoretical physics teams to enable their work simulating, characterizing, calibrating, and operating novel quantum devices.

      Potential projects may include:

      * Building tools to enable scientists to run experiments and simulations
      * Architecting database schemas to store data collected from experiments
      * Building and maintaining interfaces to the database to enable quick storage, retrieval, and processing of measurements
      * Designing a dashboard that visualizes the performance of a quantum computer
      * Building systems for automating the analysis of experimental data
      * Writing drivers for controlling the operation of microwave instruments
      * Mentoring non-software developers to actively contribute to the codebase

On the AWS CQC software team we value people with a genuine curiosity towards new technologies. Prior experience with quantum computing is not a prerequisite for this role.

This Amazon internship is full-time (40 hours/week) for 12 consecutive weeks with start dates between August and September 2023. Applicants should have a minimum of one quarter/semester remaining in their studies after their internship concludes.

      * Experience writing software in an academic or laboratory research setting* Experience working on a Python project with multiple contributors
      * Exposure to experimental physics or quantum computing
      * Experience working with database tools (e.g. Postgres) and/or cloud services (e.g. AWS)
      * Exposure to full-stack web application development (e.g. GraphQL + React)
      * Familiarity with common open-source numerical and scientific libraries
