      This is a paid internship, range of $22/hr - $39/hr (depending on role and qualifications) for those currently pursuing undergraduate degrees and higher rates for those currently pursuing graduate level degrees.

      DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

      Sound Transit’s IT Development department oversees Passenger Facing Applications throughout the Puget Sound region – Link, Sounder, ST Express, and Tacoma Link. The Software Engineer intern will have an opportunity to be a part of the team that oversees our Passenger Facing Application services and learn how a large regional transit system is managed.

      PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.

      JOB DUTIES:

      • Working closely with Engineers/Solution architects to conform to approved architecture and design.
      • Surfacing technical risks in delivered code or products.
      • Working on short term tasks for providing technical and project support to IT development team.

      POTENTIAL PROJECTS:

      • Expanding trip planning data and enabling new features.
      • Assisting with moving services to Cloud.
      • Complete DevOps improvements for various services.

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

      Applicants must be a current college student in good academic standing, enrolled in an accredited associate, bachelor's or graduate degree program in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or other technical discipline or relevant two-year certificate.

      ADDITIONAL SKILLS:

      • Skills in Java or equivalent language, HTML, REST API, Mobile app development.
      • Agile development methodologies, techniques, and principles.

        • Work is performed in a standard office environment.
