      Solutions Architecture is part of the Architecture Team within Technology and Development in CTO. It works closely with other architecture teams (Enterprise, Technical, Data & Security Architecture) and liaises with Business and IT colleagues in Santander UK as well as Santander Global Architecture.

      The team concentrates on the functional architecture of applications and how they interact with other systems in the Architecture Landscape of Santander UK, Group and 3rd Parties. The team effectively works as an Architecture Community across domains sharing reusable patterns and solutions learnt on projects, independently of projects and domains.

      The Solutions Architects produce end to end solution architectures for multiple projects in each functional domain or review the designs that have been produced by Engineering teams using guidance and patterns that have been provided to them by Architecture. Once Architecture has validated that solutions align to the strategies of Santander UK (e.g. Retail & Corporate Bank) we then work with the engineering community to deliver solutions primarily in an agile way.

      Working with Enterprise and Solution Architects in the required domains and cross domain spaces to understand the roadmaps, strategies and solutions, this is a Senior SA role with experience of running SA team & supporting SA community

      The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of the capabilities within a functional domain in addition to proven architecture experience.

      What you’ll bring:

      • Be experienced in IT Systems Design and Solutions Architecture with strong Financial Institution knowledge - Retail or Corporate - in the following functional domains:

        • Retail Banking products eg Unsecured loans Personal Accounts – banking & savings and Bonds (fixed term deposits)

        • Awareness of Corporate Banking products e.g. Invoice Financing, Cashflow Management

        • Business Segmentation – Retail, business banking, private

        • Onboarding processes e.g. Personal account, business banking, identification and verification,

      It would also be nice for you to have:

      • Strong domain driven design, with knowledge of the BIAN framework, TOGAF, ArchiMate and API & microservice architecture solutions, using tool such as Avolution Abacus

      • Proven experience in defining & documenting complex As_Is & Target Architecture defining services & integrated applications working with Key Stakeholders to help define & deliver strategic objectives.

      • Proven experience in helping to define and maintain strategic roadmaps ensuring alignment with a number of stakeholders across different technologies, business areas both locally & globally.

      • Have experience of AWS & Cloud Architecture

      • Be passionate about driving and experience of leading change by creating practical, workable architectures aligned to IT principles and following appropriate governance

      • Collaboration is critical, the ability to communicate complex concepts, challenge and influence a diverse set of senior stakeholder and colleagues

      • Knowledge of planning and organizing concepts and best practices and ability to mobilize both time and resources to manage multiple projects and domains

      • Be flexible and have a ‘can do’ attitude with a strong sense of initiative with the ability to learn fast - new concepts and skills - and deal calmly with situations under pressure

      • Be effective in a team environment – managing and allocate work to junior SA colleagues - contributing to collective targets

      What else you need to know:

      • Our preferred location for this role is Milton Keynes and current expectation is at least 2 days in an office every week. We would also encourage you to apply if you are in a reasonable travel distance of Bradford and you will be expected to spend at least 2 days in an office every week.

      • We put 8% of salary into your pension, even if you don’t contribute yourself. We’ll pay in up to 12.5% of salary, if you contribute as well, and you can take some of our contribution in cash if you prefer.
      • 30 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, which increases to 31 days after 5yrs service, with the option to purchase up to 5 contractual days per year
