- Req#: 233059
- Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic ultrasound examinations.
- Exams include, but may not be limited obstetric, gynecologic, fetal cardiac and interventional procedures.
- Uses independent judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and abnormal findings.
- Analyzes sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information and medical history, and communicates findings to the Radiologist.
- Assume responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the sonographer's care.
- Communicate effectively with the patient and the health care team, recognizing the special nature of sonographic examinations and patient's needs.
- Maintains ultrasound equipment and work area, and maintains adequate supplies.
- Establishes and maintains productive ethical working relationships with patients, coworkers, referring providers, and commercial agencies.
- Coordinates with other staff to assure appropriate patient care is provided.
- Performs infection control procedures such as vaginal probe HLD
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work herein
- Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) is required (may substitute with ARDMS certification on or before December 31, 2000) and BLS is required.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography is desirable.

Duke Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology strives to provide quality care for our patients, focusing on patient satisfaction, optimizing outcomes, ongoing research, and the education and development of clinical staff, faculty and resident physicians. The Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine is seeking a full time sonographer to join the Duke Perinatal team.

The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
