      Job Description

      The Material Handler is responsible for performing the physical tasks involved in the receiving, staging, returning, shipping, storage, destruction, and inventory management of products, materials, parts, supplies, and equipment. You will unpack and check material received against purchase orders or invoices, maintain records of received material, and reject unsatisfactory items according to procedural requirements. Additionally, you will pick and stage material for Production work orders, pack material for shipments, perform cycle counts, item verification, consolidation, and transfer of material. You will be responsible for adhering to good documentation practices defined by PCI.

      Responsibilities

      • Perform physical tasks involved in receiving, staging, returning, shipping, storage, destruction, and inventory management.
      • Unpack and check material received against purchase orders or invoices.
      • Maintain records of received material and reject unsatisfactory items.
      • Pick and stage material for Production work orders.
      • Pack material for shipments.
      • Perform cycle counts, item verification, consolidation, and transfer of material.
      • Adhere to good documentation practices defined by PCI.

      Essential Skills

      • Experience with pallet jack operations.
      • Proficiency in inventory management and shipping & receiving processes.
      • Experience with ERP systems is beneficial.
      • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
      • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Excel and Smart Sheets.
      • Forklift operation experience.
      • Experience with RF scanners.
      • Packaging, loading, material handling, inventory control, and stocking skills.

      Additional Skills & Qualifications

      • Ability to work in a cold room environment (-20 degrees).
      • Comfortable lifting weights up to 40 lbs independently.
      • Self-starter with a drive to take on more responsibilities.
      • Experience in roles requiring minimal supervision.

      Work Environment

      The working hours are from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with sporadic overtime related to shipping activities. Overtime is voluntary, typically an hour during the week, and occasionally on Saturdays. The work environment includes cold rooms (-20 degrees), large freezers, and refrigerators. You will be required to handle shipments from the cooler, and appropriate attire such as jackets will be provided. The role involves lifting requirements of 20 lbs regularly and up to 40 lbs independently. There is a possibility of future work being transferred to a new 106,000 square feet facility in Otay Mesa.

      This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, California.

      Pay and Benefits

      The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
