Job Description
- Req#: 30893
- Receive, inspect and sort donated items such as clothes, shoes, household items, bric-a-brack, etc. according to the category and condition.
- Select items suitable for store display and distribute same to appropriate area for further sorting and/or pricing, discard items in accordance with established procedures.
- Tag items with specially coded tickets and/or prices in accordance with established procedures.
- Hang clothes on hangers and place same on clothes racks.
- Pack items in boxes and mark boxes accordingly, assist in transporting boxes to appropriate storage area.
- Prepare non-suitable clothes for the baler.
- Lift and carry items to the appropriate destination for further processing, storage or display in store.
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
- Ability to learn and concentrate.
- Duties are performed seated or intermittently sitting, standing or stooping
- Occasional lifting of light objects (less than 25 lbs) and occasional lifting of objects 25 to 50 pounds may be necessary.

Job Title: Sorting Room Worker
Location: Howard County Service Center
Position Type: part-time with benefits (28 hours/week), non-exempt
Pay Rate: $15.00/hour
About this opportunity:
The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Sorting Room Worker at the Thrift Store in Howard County. The Sorting Room Worker is r esponsible for delivery of excellent customer service while receiving and assisting with donated goods, keeping accurate counts of donations, cleaning, pricing, and sorting goods, while maintaining a clean and safe work area.
