      1.0 FTE, Continuing Contract

      DESCRIPTION: Teach grades 9-12 Spanish from beginning through advanced levels. Plan, implement and evaluate classroom instruction consistent with program and district curriculum. Report pupil progress to parents. Support programs and building/district in-service education programs. Attend meetings and conferences as required. Other related duties as assigned.

      QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Washington State Certification with Spanish Language endorsement. Computer literature. Experience teaching high school Spanish and working with technology preferred. Bilingual (Spanish/English). Ability to work as a team player critical. Requires prolonged sitting or standing. Attendance and punctuality are important functions of this position. Experience with ACTFL benchmark and assessments. Instructional focus includes:academic vocabulary, Total Physical Response, Integrating technology into learning, incorporating cultural experiences. Preference will be given to candidates who are qualified to teach College in the High School courses. Such candidates meet the following requirements: B.A. in the Spanish language, MA in the Spanish language (preferred), in Education, Second Language Acquisition or related field, Demonstrated language proficiency equivalent to ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Language) Advanced-low or higher in both the Oral (OPi or OPic) and writing versions (WPT). In addition, a background check, based on fingerprints, will be requested from the Washington State Patrol & FBI. Employment is conditional based upon completion of the record check.
