      Job Summary

      Serves all schools from the district level with research-based best practices and direct assistance to school staff in serving families. Plans strategically with district leaders and school staff to develop goals. Serves on special projects and committees to provide input on challenges to success in family engagement.

      Primary Job Duties/Responsibilities: List, in the order of importance or time spent, the essential and position specific duties/tasks performed by the position.       Essential Duty 1:

      Develops, coordinates, and provides high quality training sessions and workshops for schools to share with families based on needs assessments and the goals of schools based on family, school and community needs.

      Essential Duty 2:

      Develops and provides high quality training sessions and workshops to school staff to support capacity building for effective family-school partnerships.

      Essential Duty 3:

      Creates, supports and participants in parent leadership activities. Attends and assists with district events to promote family and community programs.

      Position Specific Responsibility 1:

      Meets regularly with school staff and leadership to share expertise; links academic goals with family programs; coordinates events and opportunities at the district level; and establishes and maintains communications between families, community partners, schools, and other MNPS departments about events, programs, classes, and opportunities.

      Position Specific Responsibility 2:

      Collaborates with various community partners to establish and or maintain effective family and community partnerships.

      Position Specific Responsibility 3:

      Provides department’s leadership information by researching, collecting, and analyzing data and communicating concerns about challenges to success in parent and community engagement.

      Position Specific Responsibility 4:

      Coordinates with MNPS departments to ensure necessary resources are provided for families.

      Position Specific Responsibility 5:

      Expands and enhances partnerships with community based organizations in support of goals and needs. Collaborate with internal department in support of district wide initiative

      Other Responsibilities:

      Performs other duties or tasks as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the responsibilities in this job classification.

      Education and Experience Requirements

      Education (training/degree):

      Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field required.

      Licenses, Certifications or Registrations Required:

      Valid driver’s license required.

      Experience:

      Two (2) years applicable experience or education. Experience leading new initiatives in education, public administration, community development, or related field with proven success is preferred.

      Meal Deduction – Most Bransford office and district level employee have a meal deduction. They are scheduled 8.5 hours per day and get an hour lunch. Itinerants and retirees get a 30-minute lunch period and therefore do not have a meal deduction. All school-based employees will not have a meal deduction. Auto Meal Deduction

      Travel – Itinerant non-exempt employees who travel will be using the time clock differently than others and are paid for travel time between work locations. Itinerant Employee that travels daily from location to location

      Compensatory Time vs. Overtime (Support Non-Exempt Employees only) – Does this department have overtime budgeted, i.e. Maintenance, Transportation, Food Service. If not, employees accrue comp time only. Exempt Employee - can not accrue comp or overtime

      Physical Demands:

      Level 3: Requires light work involving standing or walking some of the time, exerting up to 20 pounds of force on a regular basis, and moderate dexterity in operating machinery, tools, or office equipment.
