      Nokia is seeking an accomplished and strategic leader to join our Space and Defense Unit (part of the Mobile Networks Division) as Senior Advisor – NATO & Nordics.
      This role focuses on strengthening Nokia’s strategic engagement with NATO entities and Nordic defense stakeholders. The Senior Advisor will drive initiatives, policy engagement, and partnerships that support Nokia’s critical mission in defense communications, security solutions, and resilience technologies across the transatlantic and Nordic regions.

      Qualifications

      • Minimum of 10 years' senior-level experience engaging directly with NATO command structures (e.g., NATO HQ, SHAPE) and/or Nordic Ministries of Defense, Armed Forces, or Foreign Affairs.
      • Demonstrated expertise in NATO operational frameworks, procurement pathways, and capability development programs.
      • Deep operational knowledge of Nordic security, defense collaboration mechanisms, and regional military modernization efforts.
      • Proven experience in leading multinational defense projects, strategic policy engagements, or public-private security partnerships.
      • Strong diplomatic, negotiation, and communication skills with the ability to influence at the highest levels of government and military.
      • Fluency in English (written and spoken); proficiency in a Nordic language (Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian, or Danish) is highly desirable.
      • Must possess an active NATO SECRET (or higher) security clearance or a valid Finnish national security clearance.
      • Extensive understanding of transatlantic security, collective defense, resilience, and critical communication infrastructure.

      Responsibilities

      • Advise Space and Defense leadership on NATO and Nordic defense strategies, operational priorities, and emerging opportunities.
      • Develop and maintain senior-level relationships with NATO headquarters, Nordic Ministries of Defense and Foreign Affairs, Armed Forces, and major defense organizations.
      • Lead Nokia’s involvement in NATO capability development, procurement processes, and multinational projects with Nordic governments.
      • Represent Nokia in NATO working groups, Nordic defense forums, and international security initiatives.
      • Provide strategic analysis of evolving political, operational, and technological developments in NATO and Nordic defense environments.
      • Support business development and project acquisition activities aligned with Nokia’s Space and Defense strategy.
      • Act as Nokia’s senior liaison and advisor for internal teams working on defense and security engagements involving NATO and Nordics.
  • About the company

      Nokia’s transition to a primary focus on telecommunications began in the 1990s. The first GSM call was made in 1991 using Nokia equipment. Rapid success in the mobile phone sector allowed Nokia to become by 1998, the best-selling mobile phone brand in the world. In 2003 Nokia introduced the first camera phone. In 2011, to address increasing competition from iOS and Android operating systems, Nokia entered into a strategic partnership with Microsoft. In 2014 Nokia sold its mobile and devices division to Microsoft. The creation of Nokia Networks, following the buy-out of joint-venture partner Siemens in 2013, laid the foundation for Nokia’s transformation into primarily a network hardware and software provider. The 2015 acquisition of Franco-American telecommunications equipment provider Alcatel-Lucent greatly broadened the scope of Nokia’s portfolio and customer base. Additional acquisitions have positioned Nokia to be an industry leader in the transition to 5G wireless technology by offering the only end-to-end 5G network portfolio available on a global basis. In 2016 the Nokia brand re-entered the mobile handset market through a licensing agreement with HMD Global, allowing them to offer phones under the Nokia brand.
