Position: Special Education Early Childhood Teacher - Rule 55 Posting # 3662
Posting Dates: March 12, 2025 – Until Filled
Reports To: Elementary School Principal
Beginning: August 2025
Qualifications:
? Valid state of Michigan teacher certification; Special Education and Early Childhood Endorsement (ZS) required.
? At least 5 years’ experience working with students ages 3-5
? CPI trained preferred
Job Responsibilities:
? Develop/implement behavioral intervention plans and reinforcement systems.
? Proficient in behavior management, planning and preparation or behavior plans, social stories and visual supports.
? Positive communication and consultation with teachers, parents and administrators.
? Hold a caseload of students with Rule 55 programming on IEP.
? Coordinate IEP services with team members, including general education teachers, school social worker, speech therapists, occupational therapist and physical therapist.
? Lead and execute IEPs for students on caseload
? Support students with IEPs in GSRP classrooms.
? Experience with Creative Curriculum and PELI
? Knowledge and experience with PBIS, MTSS and Pyramid Practices
? Experience with team teaching; small and large group activities
? Active member of the Early Childhood team with providing professional development and an active participant within committees
? Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
? Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
? Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
? Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
? Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken work; those activities where detailed or import spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
? Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound.
? Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is subject to environmental conditions.
? The worker should provide consistent and reliable attendance.
