Special Education Teacher Gr. K-5
CREC's Polaris Center is seeking a Special Education Teacher to work within our program, serving students in grades K-5 who are presenting with significant social, emotional and behavioral challenges.
The special education teacher is responsible for a caseload of no more than 10 students and will work as a member of a supportive, comprehensive team that includes a social worker, BCBA, and related service providers. The teacher will create a classroom community; implementing trauma informed and evidenced based practices where students receive specialized instruction to make academic and behavioral growth. Other responsibilities include writing IEP goals and objectives, completing academic assessments for triennial testing, PPT participation.
Teachers at Polaris are members of the collective bargaining unit and participate in the Connecticut Teachers' Retirement Board .
