- Ability to research and comprehend state statues and case law.
- Provide leadership to claims representatives with expertise, training and recommendations on claims.
- Identify, interpret and collect evidence in accordance with prescribed rules of evidence.
- Conduct objective, fair, thorough, unbiased and timely investigations.
- Evaluate the need for and obtain specialized assistance and investigative support.
- Prepare comprehensive reports of investigations.
- Appear as a witness and provide testimony at trials and dispositions.
- Attend courses, seminars and related training specific to investigations.
- Maintain a professional atmosphere and appearance while interacting with all stakeholders.
- Maintain a positive attitude.
- Maintain company property in good working order, request new equipment and secure authorization of repairs.
- Maintain good working relationship with all stakeholders.
- Knowledge and proficiency in the use of analytical/investigative tools and databases such as Accurint, ISO Claims Search, PACER, etc.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable motor vehicle record to operate a corporate vehicle.
- Regular and predictable attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Thorough knowledge of specialist investigative techniques, procedures and legal proceedings.
- Knowledge of computer technology and applications.
- Analytical and reasoning skills to conduct investigations.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work independently.
- Self Initiating, ability to work without direction and attentive to detail.
Acuity is seeking a Special Investigator to work in support of claims personnel when issues come into question relative to a claim presented to Acuity. The Special Investigator will conduct thorough investigations, establish communication and act as a liaison with local authority in furtherance of reviews being conducted where criminal activity is identified.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
EDUCATION:
College degree or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 5 years conducting complex investigations in law enforcement or the insurance industry.

This job is classified as exempt.
The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $123,000 annually. This salary range is an estimate and the actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
