Job Description

- To maintain the required levels of laboratory safety and good laboratory practice, as specified in local and national guidelines.
- To work with biomedical scientists and clinical scientists in the provision of a comprehensive and effective Cellular Pathology service for the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, as directed by the Head of the Department.
- To participate in the efficient handling, processing and analysis of samples in the laboratory, under supervision.
- To maintain effective records of all activities and procedures, and to contribute towards the maintenance of the laboratory's quality system.
- To check, keep clean and maintain laboratory equipment.
- To carry out supervised laboratory procedures in all sections of the laboratory, as directed by the Head of the Unit and senior scientific staff.

- Biomedical Science degree or equivalent which is acceptable by the IBMS /HCPC for registration
- HCPC Registration and clear understanding of Code of Conduct and Professional Standards of the HCPC
- Hold the IBMS Specialist Diploma or demonstrate the equivalent depth and breadth of knowledge in the relevant discipline
- Actively involved in Continuing Professional Development
- Good practical analytical skills associated with diagnostic laboratory work
- Good interpretive skills at bench level
- Able to provide judgment on a range of complex problems
- Ability to show flexibility by performing multiple tasks
- Customer Service experience
- A good working knowledge of specialist subject in relevant discipline
- Use of Pathology computer systems
- Previous experience in a large busy laboratory

What We Need from You?Completion of or progress in the specialist portfolio in Cellular Pathology, or equivalent experience.
A solid histology background, embedding, microtomy, frozen sections, special staining, and quality control.
Experience in immunofluorescence, MOHS, and Immunocytochemistry is a huge plus

NWLP Induction
The NWLP induction will run on the first Monday of each month (provided it does not fall on a bank holiday) and includes laboratory training (for relevant laboratory roles). All new staff must attend the NWLP induction during their first week with NWLP.
For 2024/25, see below the start dates which you will be able to book once you have completed all your pre-employment checks.
