      Work closely with clinicians and nursing colleagues to promote safe and effective use of medicines on the wards, whilst ensuring cost-effective use of resources.

      In addition to inpatient clinical practice within specialist medicine you will form a part of the medicines information service based at the Royal Derby Hospital.

      Main duties of the job

      Be a part of a collaborative MDT with the full range of health professions, providing appropriate prescribing and monitoring advice.

      Help to provide the medicines information service for the trust, answering a range of queries from health professionals, patients and carers, enabling other clinical pharmacists with your input, maintaining a range of information resources, undertaking complex problem-solving and critical appraisal and deputising for the Lead Medicines Information Pharmacist.

      Active involvement in development and review of policies and procedures in specialty. Assist Advanced Pharmacist to manage introduction of new drugs and treatment guidelines.

      Assist with management of errors, complaints and incidents as per Trust Risk Management and Complaints Policies.

      Assist Advanced Pharmacist in preparing financial reports and ensuring drug usage and expenditure are monitored and reported to Divisional management team.

      Deliver educational sessions to junior and trainee pharmacists and other professions.Help to support and develop rotational and trainee pharmacists.

      You will be given the opportunity to undertake the UKMI National Medicines Information Training Course, which runs annually and will help to equip you as a medicines information specialist, and to undertake independent prescribing. This is fully funded by the Trust, and you will be supported to attend study days and complete prescribing practice hours.
