      Title Code: Specialist: Family Navigator JOB SUMMARY As part of the Community School team, the family navigator works to help identify and arrange for the delivery of Blueprint Community School wrap-around services that best support families, including early learners, within a school community. Collaborates with school leadership and the community school program manager, district staff, and community partners to create and/or identify services related to family and early childhood engagement, adult education and workforce development, parenting workshops, physical and behavioral health services, and early childhood programming that support kindergarten readiness. Works with and coaches a caseload of families who need additional support to fully participate in opportunities and regularly communicates with families to help remove barriers that keep families from registering for, participating in, and completing programs and activities. The family navigator will be on site for community school family and early childhood programming outside the normal school day, including weekends. The daily schedule will depend on the timing and types of late afternoon and evening programming provided in each community school. Additional Work Days/Hours Based on the assignment, the following additional work days and/or hours may be required as needed: Ability to work flexible schedules Evenings/Nights Outside of normal business hours Weekends ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES In collaboration with the Community School Program Manager and school leadership, assists with the identification, organization, promotion, and implementation of family and early childhood programming at the school. Works with government and community agencies and organizations to identify and promote family and early childhood opportunities related to adult education, workforce development, physical and behavioral health, and early childhood programming. Identifies and communicates with families to encourage and coach them to participate in programming and to support and monitor participant progress in completing select programs. Hosts and supervises onsite family and early childhood programming during and after typical school hours. Establishes, promotes, and maintains effective two-way communication with all stakeholders to help eliminate barriers limiting family and early childhood programming participation. Works with program providers to help modify programming to best fit the needs of the school families. In collaboration with the Program Manager and other community school staff, collects, maintains, and analyzes data related to services and programming provided to families and children to quantify the impact of the community school strategy. In collaboration with the Program Manager and other district and school staff, helps connect families to community resources to address a variety of wrap-around services. Completes all required paperwork related to community school family and early childhood programming. Participates in professional development related to family and early childhood engagement, the community school strategy, community-based resources, and other areas identified by the school and the Office of Community and School-Based Programs. Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower. Education Bachelor's Degree in related field of education from a regionally accredited college or university required; Or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the employee to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience Two (2) years experience working with families, community organizations/agencies, or schools required. One (1) year experience in project management, programming, communications, or promotions preferred. One (1) year experience working with young children and their families. preferred. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics Knowledge of and ability to work in partnership with community organizations, agencies, and programs. Ability to effectively communicate with families and other stakeholders. Knowledge of Maryland Blueprint community schools and the role of wrap-around services in supporting families and students. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, promote, and implement programs and activities. Ability to independently implement, direct, and supervise a model program. Ability to supervise family and early childhood programming in a school setting, including managing large events and groups of visitors to schools. Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations, including multilingual families. Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g. Video/Web Conferencing, Microsoft Office Suite -Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or PowerPoint preferred). Language Requirements Bilingual in Spanish native or near native preferred. Licenses and Certifications Employee must retain active licenses, certifications, and enrollment as a condition of employment. Hold or be eligible for Driver's License (DL) Class C Non-Commercial issued by Maryland or State of Legal Residence (MVA/DMV) required; and Daily access to reliable transportation.
