      Job summary

We would love you to come and see what we have to offer in the Western Lake District!

The post we have to offer you is within the Integrated Musculoskeletal (IMSK) team in West Cumbria.

We are a large MSK department with this role being situated in the team which covers the Western edge of the Lake District. Our service is spread among acute hospitals, community hospitals, GP surgeries and health centres offering wide and varied opportunities to gain skills in the MSK field. We have highly skilled physiotherapists working in each of these areas who will support you to achieve high standards of professional development and clinical excellence in your practise.

The static Band 6 MSK position provides you with the opportunity to work within a well-developed and supportive department offering a robust appraisal, preceptorship, clinical and management supervision.

You will need to be committed to working autonomously providing evidence based assessment, treatment and rehabilitation. You will manage a caseload where patients are referred from both Primary and Secondary care and include those from the wider MSK Pathway (including our First Contact Physiotherapists and Orthopaedic triage services). We support the education of physiotherapy students from Universities across the North; have apprentices working within the team and support the development of rotational staff through our service which we anticipate you will participate with.

      Main duties of the job

This role is a static position within the Integrated MSK Physiotherapy service with the main duties of the role being that of assessing and managing patients using evidence based practise and clinical reasoning; supporting the wider service with training of rotational team members and students and being pro-active in own and service development. Working between sites is anticipated so independent travel to do this is expected.

Continuing professional development is encouraged and we provide a robust in-service training programme which we anticipate you will be actively a part of and incorporates the whole MSK team from across Cumbria. We work collaboratively with the East team and Advanced Practise Physiotherapists & Podiatrists who provide mentoring, teaching and training sessions.

We would anticipate that you will have significant experience of working within the MSK field with clear evidence of relevant postgraduate training, exceptional organisational and leadership skills. An ability to work and travel across sites throughout West Cumbria is also essential.

We use a blended approach to patient centred care with face to face, telephone and virtual consultations all offered.

  • About the company

National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
