- oWorking as part of an MDT team within a clinical environment.
- oDelegation to support staff.
- oExperience of general assessment and intervention with patients in a physical setting (e.g. medical, surgical, trauma and orthopaedics and neurology patients).
- oStudent supervision

- oInvolvement in service development
- oClear demonstrable understanding of the OT process
- oClear understanding of Evidence Based Practice.
- oWorking knowledge of functional and standardised assessment tools

- oUnderstanding of Clinical Governance and implications for Occupational Therapy services including experience of quality issues and audit.

Job summary
Specialist Occupational TherapistBand 6 Fixed Term Contract - 37.5 hours/week
St George's University Hospital Foundation Trust is looking for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join us on a fixed term contract as a Band 6 within our acute and rehabilitation services. The fixed term contract will end on 10th July 2026.
St George's occupational therapists work in specialist multi-disciplinarytherapy services that have a strong focus on patient experience and continual improvement. The post offers the opportunity to be part of a friendly, dynamic and forward-thinking teaching Trust. We are looking for a dedicated occupational therapist who is motivated and keen to develop their clinical specialist knowledge and skills.
Main duties of the job
Rotation covers: STAR, MAU, Cardiac & Renal, Haem-Oncology, Hand Therapy, Amputee Rehab, Trauma & Orthopaedics, Ortho-Geriatrics, Vascular & Surgery
Current gap will be in Amputee Rehabilitation @ QMH
Specialist therapy role providing daily support and supervision to occupational therapists working within in the team and across the wider Trust
Provision of assessment and treatment of complex clinical caseload and support for other team members with their treatment plans and clinical reasoning to facilitate safe and timely discharge.
Organises and provides clinical supervision, teaching, completion of audit and service improvement projects.
Assists with programme for occupational therapy student placements- annual review and planning of placements, including allocation and induction.
The post also supports weekend working in Medicine, STAR Trauma and Orthopaedics and Plastics and Neurosciences.

This role is integral to the delivery of specialist Occupational Therapy services across a number of different clinical specialties in the organization.
The responsibilities of this post include timely OT assessment and treatment of patients across a variety of clinical areas in the Trust
This post is also involved with service development projects, student supervision and staff management.
