      Job Summary:

      Satisfy requirements of the Kentucky Cancer Registry (KCR)/Indiana State Cancer Registry (ISCR) and the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (ACOS CoC) in reporting cancer, keeping an accredited cancer program and providing data to improve quality cancer care. Specifically responsible for timely/quality-oriented abstracting of data and submission/monitoring/auditing of data to the National Cancer Database (NCDB); in addition to, participating in all accreditation activities as outlined in the CoC standards manual. Participate in community education, prevention, screening activities.

      Job Description:

      Completes patient abstracting and performs quality audits to comply with SEH, KCR, ACOS CoC timeliness/quality standards. Reviews/requests internal and external medical records to assure complete demographic, diagnosis, staging, treatment, disease status information. Codes information electronically in real time to the KCR. Stays up to date with all KCR/ACOS and coding manual standards. *Maintains CTR certification.

      Research studies, reports and education: Markets, promotes, educates and provides cancer research studies/reports to physicians, administrators, and community at large. Prepares statistical reports based on cancer patient data/trends/patterns. To include but not limited to RQRS, CP3R data collection/audits, CoC special studies, annual public reporting of registry data/outcomes, community activities for cancer education/prevention/ screening, educational presentations, quarterly cancer registry PI quality monitors, CAP monitoring, studies of quality and NCDB ‘Call for Data’ data editing and submission. Serves as effective staff support and educates physicians with cancer staging. All in compliance within SEH, KCR, ACOS CoC timeliness/quality standards.

      Organizes, promotes, participates and documents Cancer Conferences to comply with SEH, KCR, and CoC ACOS timeliness/quality standards. May be required to fulfill Cancer Conference Coordinator position.

      Serves as effective staff support to manager for Cancer Committee, and CoC ACOS survey. May be required to attend meetings and/or fulfill Cancer Committee Coordinator positions. Assists manager with administrative projects.

      Completes patient follow-up and performs quality audits to comply with SEH, KCR, CoC ACOS timeliness/quality standards.

      Completes patient case finding and performs quality audits to comply with SEH, KCR, and CoC ACOS timeliness/quality standards. Submits non-reportable cases to state. Maintains all registry filing/case finding systems; completes state abstracting/follow-up/auditing requests.

      Performs other duties as assigned.

      Education, Credentials, Licenses:

      Certified Tumor Registry (CTR)

      Specialized Knowledge:

      Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

      DESIRABLE

      Bachelor Degree

      Advanced presentational skills; competency/experience interacting directly with senior administrators/physicians.

      3 years Registry experience
