      Job summary

      We are looking for enthusiastic, dynamic and highly motivated Band 5 pharmacy technicians to join our trust bank team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.

      You will be working on wards alongside various clinical teams ward to assist in the delivery of a comprehensive pharmacy service and to provide operational support to the department. This role may involve contributing to our out-of-hours service working in the evenings and on weekends.

      Main duties of the job

      To assist in the delivery of a comprehensive pharmacy service and to provide operational support to the department. This includes ward-based clinical pharmacy services, working to specific clinical objectives depending on the focus of the service and patient cohort, with the possibility of contributing to the out-of-hours service in the evenings or at weekends.

      Essential

      • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council GPhC
      • Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) Certificate
      • BTEC / NVQ Level 3 Certified Pharmacy Technician

      Desirable

      • Medicine Management Accreditation or equivalent.

      Core experience

      Essential

      • Demonstration competence of pharmacy practice skills and knowledge
      • Previous experience of delivering ward pharmacy technician services, including medicines reconciliation to a specialist clinical area
      • Previous experience of delivering induction and competency-based training
      • Previous experience of supervising staff and workload on a day-to-day basis
      • Previous experience of project work/audit/change management

      Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

      Essential

      • Demonstrated ability to dispense accurately to set standards
      • Demonstrated ability to counsel and give advice to patients on their medications
      • Demonstrated ability to accurately judge and assess patient's own medication
      • Demonstrated ability to accurately record patient medicine reconciliation
      • Demonstrated ability to prioritise and organise routine daily tasks using own initiative, whilst supervising and leading a team
      • Demonstrated ability to plan, deliver, and organise competency-based training assessment

      • Demonstrated ability to communicate more complex and sensitive information effectively using clear written and spoken English to overcome barriers to understanding
