- Working in family homes, community clinics and education settings, and taking full responsibility for a caseload of paediatric clients.
- Providing excellent assessment and management support to children with a range of communication and /or feeding difficulties.
- Taking the role of an specialist SLT within the complex needs and social communication team - developing relevant pathways and packages of care, training the team , offering second opinions.
- Providing leadership and supervision to other members of the team.

- Health and Care Professions Council Registration and full Registered Membership of RCSLT
- Post-graduate training/courses relevant to this client group e.g. Paediatric Dysphagia, Hanen, Elklan, PCI interventions
- Knowledge of a range of therapeutic interventions appropriate to the client group/s
- Post-graduate professional development, evidenced by current CPD activities
- Knowledge of relevant national policies and papers especially relating to prevention of SLCN.
- Substantial experience as a qualified SLT working in a range of settings and with different client groups
- Experience of administration and organisation for caseload management
- Experience training parents/carers and a range of professionals
- xtensive experience providing therapy for children with complex communication difficulties.
- Experience working with infants, children and young people with eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties.
- Experience of coaching or line management of staff including basic HR tasks
- Will have been involved with previous service improvements.
- Ability to carry out detailed assessments, differential diagnosis and development of care plans for children with complex and significant SLCN and/or eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties
- Excellent organisational skills, including ability to prioritise
- Evidence of well-developed analytical and reflection skills
- Willingness to undertake further clinical and professional training
- Excellent keyboard and IT skills
- Excellent team working skills
- Recognised SLT degree qualification or equivalent

Specialist Speech and Language Therapist Band 6 - Full time (37.5 hours per week) - Fixed Term Temporary (maternity leave cover until 01/08/2026)
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Integrated Service for Children with Additional needs (ISCAN) team providing Speech & Language Therapy to children in Tameside and Glossop. We are looking for a motivated and skilled therapist to work within our Complex Needs and Social Communication Team.
We are a friendly multi-disciplinary team who are always looking for new innovative ways to develop our service. The role provides an excellent opportunity to work alongside dedicated professionals providing excellent high quality care to reduce the impact of speech, language & communication difficulties to children and their families
Main duties of the job
The team are looking for a motivated Speech and Language Therapist who is experienced working with infants, children and young people with complex communication and / or feeding difficulties. You will be working within our specialist complex needs and social communication team working within a range of settings.
As an Specialist SLT working with children complex needs, you will be responsible in the continued development of our complex needs and social communication pathway and keeping the team up to date with evidence based interventions.
