      The Specialist/Gas Control & Dispatch is an individual contributor within a functional area of the Gas Control and Dispatch Departments responsible for providing technical expertise and process control support for the Southwest Gas Corporation Control Rooms or Dispatch Centers. This position is involved in the design and analysis of processes and/or the development, standardization, implementation, maintenance and support of those processes from data collection, configuration and integration.

      QUALIFICATIONS

      There are clear precedents and practices which the incumbent uses to determine how this job is performed. This position requires three to five years of relevant work experience plus a bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential job responsibility

      ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

      GAS CONTROL

      • Develop, support and maintain all Control Room Management of Change activities
      • Provide technical support and information to Key Account Management, Gas Purchasing, Gas Scheduling, System Planning and Division Operational groups
      • Research, develop, analyze and communicate key performance metrics of control room activities
      • Develop and coordinate on-going Controller education/training activities
      • Maintain knowledge and education with fatigue mitigation principles
      • Evaluate control room processes for relevance and adequacy to enhance emergency response
      • Establish and maintain schedule and tracking mechanisms for control room processes
      • Identify conditions that warrant consideration for potential change or improvement
      • Communicate Control Room project updates to appropriate personnel and departments
      • Represent the department in meetings that require Control Room involvement
      • Prepare reports of Control Room activities as required
      • Keep abreast of all Company O&M standards
      • Perform workload management/statistical analyses and provide recommendations for enhancement of control room processes including alarm management and fatigue mitigation
      • Coordinate on going fatigue mitigation education/training for personnel
      • Design, test, troubleshoot and oversee implementation of control room processes
      • Create and implement control room strategies to improve process efficiency
      • Support pipeline safety compliance activities that ensure conformance with Company standards
      • Maintain and process data in accordance with regulatory requirements
      • Develop programs and plans to ensure conformance with Company, state and federal regulations.
      • Assist with emergency response activities
      • Assist with Quality Assurance activities
      • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned
      • Regular and predictable attendance is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job
      • Work will involve travel up to 35%

      DISPATCH

      • Lead and/or perform engineering analysis of Dispatch Operations concepts and issues
      • Lead and/or perform development of process and engineering solutions for Dispatch Operations
      • Support and maintain Dispatch process improvement activities, determine contingency plans for capacity/productivity enhancements
      • Analyze Dispatch processes for relevance and adequacy to enhance emergency response
      • Evaluate the utilization of Dispatch technology to maximize efficiencies and identify potential for enhancements
      • Research, develop, analyze and communicate key performance metrics of Dispatch activities, recommend corrective courses of action
      • Ensure Dispatch processes work at optimum and desired output levels in order to meet the needs of the respective operational groups
      • Develop and coordinate on-going Dispatcher education/training activities
      • Active involvement with Dispatch related projects, communicate updates to appropriate personnel and departments
      • Represent the department in Operations meetings
      • Prepare reports, communication material, manuals and other related written materials associated with Dispatch technical issues, programs and processes.
      • Keep abreast of all Company O&M standards as they relate to Dispatch activities and ensure processes meet or exceed those standards and or regulations
      • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned
      • Regular and predictable attendance is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job
      • Work will involve travel up to 35%

      SALARY DETAILS

      $72,900 - $105,700
