    • Emotionally mature; dependable; ability to control temper and keep calm in all situations, possess the ability to respond quickly in situations when needed; sense of humor; interest; imagination; alertness; and adaptability and flexibility to perform a variety of changing tasks.
    • Training and/ or experience which indicates a basic knowledge of the nature and needs of children with specialized health and/ or behavior needs, and the desire to work with students with these special needs.
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently; follow oral and written instructions; and to develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, school personnel, parents, and students.
    • Must maintain confidentiality with appropriate parties at all times.
    • Must be able to move, lift, reposition students to alternate seating, changing tables, mats on the floor, or other locations as needed.
    • Assists the classroom teacher with the implementation of the student's goals and objectives of the educational program.
    • Work with student individually and in groups as directed by the teacher.
    • Assists in the daily operation of the classroom, such as collecting and checking student's work and projects, supervising testing and make-up work, collecting data, and copying materials.
    • Attends to personal care needs of student which may include, but are not limited to:
    • Assists student in improving personal and organizational performance by monitoring, measuring and recording outcomes.
    • Assist with supervision of pupils on playground, recess areas, lunchroom, community training, mainstreamed classes, and other educational settings in and outside the school.
    • Assists the teacher(s) in implementing and reinforcing identified educational strategies.
    • Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.
    • Serves as a chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher.
    • Assists student with their academic subjects, social skills development, and other non-academic areas as directed by the teacher.
    • Maintains confidentiality of information about student.
    • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
    • Refrains from discussing sensitive or confidential information in front of students or staff.
    • Physically respond to students of any size, who may be aggressive towards themselves or others according to district approved protocols.
    • Assists co-workers as required.
    • May be assigned to work in more than one building and/or classroom as required.
    • Performs other tasks from time to time that may be required by teacher or administrator.
    • Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissues.
    • Occasional interaction among unruly students.

      Nine Month Position (Monday - Friday)
      Salary Range: $19.77 - $25.04 Per Hour

      GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
      Assists the teacher by working with individual and small groups of students in implementing the goals and objectives of the educational program. Responsible for assisting students in specialized areas where they need help with basic academic skills, personal care needs, and specialized health needs as identified by the District.

      QUALIFICATIONS:
      • Currently hold or have the ability to obtain an Educational Aide Permit with an ESEA-Qualified Endorsement REQUIRED
      • High school diploma or equivalent.

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
      • Assists the classroom teacher with the implementation of the student's goals and objectives of the educational program.
      • Work with student individually and in groups as directed by the teacher.
      • Assists in the daily operation of the classroom, such as collecting and checking student's work and projects, supervising testing and make-up work, collecting data, and copying materials.
      • Attends to personal care needs of student which may include, but are not limited to:
      a. Performing specialized health and medical procedures as determined by the District
      b. Assisting student, if needed, in the utilization of restroom facilities (lifting, transferring to alternate seating/positioning to changing tables, mats on the floor, or other locations as needed, as well as diapering and assisting with other toileting needs)
      c. Assisting student moving to and from various rooms and other spaces in and out of the building (including the use of wheelchairs or other adaptive equipment).
      d. Administering medication as directed by District Policy.
      e. Administering first aid to students, if necessary.
