      Responsible for selling BCBSM’s ancillary lines of business to BCBSM's current and potential customers, agencies and consultants. These customers include Auto, Large, Key, Trust funds, Unions and Middle and Small Markets. Work closely with the medical sales and account management teams to increase our market share and the penetration of our ancillary lines of business into BCBSM's customer base.
      • Identify potential group customers through prospecting and working with the medical account management and sales teams and agents in addition to maintaining a comprehensive database of all prospects.
      • Determine the account decision making process, key union/management stakeholders, and develop sales strategies to sell and add additional lines of Specialty business.
      • Identify and follow up on new leads and referrals obtained from field activity.
      • Respond to quotes and RFP requests and prepare a variety of sales reports, action plans, presentations, proposals, to market Specialty lines of business.
      • Recognize specific account requests/requirements and incorporate solutions into proposal materials.
      • Verify necessary data for the development of rates and identify/resolve client concerns.
      • Monitor and communicate benefits offered, competitor products, rate trends and competitor concerns from the market.
      • Communicate new product and service opportunities, special developments, information, and feedback that is gathered through field activity to appropriate staff members.
      • Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies for target accounts in accordance with accepted sales practices.
      • Participate in marketing seminars, trade shows, and various community forums.
      • Perform other related duties as required.

      "Qualifications"

      • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing or related field preferred.
      • Four (4) years of concept sales or risk management experience.
      • Valid Michigan Accident and Health Insurance License.
      • Valid and unrestricted driver's license is required.
      • High degree of technical knowledge of benefits industry, billing, competitive programs, agent relations, policies, procedures, rating, selling process and underwriting as it relates to sales and marketing.
      • Extensive knowledge of alternative benefit delivery programs, corporate philosophy, and financial arrangements.
      • Advanced analytical, interpersonal, decision-making, presentation, problem resolution, sales, verbal and written communication skills.
      • Well-developed forecasting, organization, planning and scheduling skills.
      • Proficient in current industry standard PC applications and systems (Microsoft Office Suite).
      • Possess tact and resourcefulness in establishing and maintaining effective internal working relationships.
      • Ability to persuade and influence others while maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive company public image.

      Department Information

      • This position will be dedicated to selling Specialty benefits (dental/vision/life/disability) into the small group market (
      • This position will require day travel during the week at least 50% of the time within the Flint/Midland/ Metro Detroit Area.
