      We are seeking an experienced, full-time, Specialty Doctor who will work at Cygnet Hospital Bury across a rotation of settings.

      You will be fully involved as a practising psychiatrist - while being fully supported by a Consultant Psychiatrist and first-class multidisciplinary team.

      Main duties of the job

      Cygnet Hospital Bury is now operating as three separately registered hospitals, Cygnet Bury Dunes, Cygnet Bury Forestwood and Cygnet Bury Hudson.

      Cygnet Bury Dunes provides a wide range of inpatient mental health services for men and women including specialist deaf services and emergency admission services.

      Cygnet Bury Forestwood offers CAMHS Tier 4 PICU, General Acute and Low Secure services across four wards which provide a defined treatment pathway from admission through to intervention and discharge including rapid assessment and treatment.

      Cygnet Bury Hudson provides a wide range of secure mental health services for men including individuals with a diagnosis of personality disorder.

      Professionally Accountable to: Consultant Psychiatrist

      Managerially Responsible to: Hospital Manager

      Are you an outstanding Specialty or Associate Specialist Doctor looking for your next challenge in psychiatry and a competitive salary?

      We are proud to offer a dynamic and enriching rotation programme for Specialty Doctors across our secure and non-secure services. Our diverse clinical settings include male and female secure units, specialist Deaf services for both men and women, and a dedicated male personality disorder unit. These are niche, highly specialised pathways offering a broad and unique clinical experience.

      In addition, our service provides valuable exposure to Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), including both psychiatric intensive care units (PICU) and low secure wards. Doctors also gain experience in adult acute psychiatry and adult psychiatric intensive care, ensuring a well-rounded foundation across the lifespan.

      Our rotation scheme is designed with training and development at its core. Specialty Doctors rotate annually within the service, enabling them to gain diverse experience across sub-specialties while being fully supported in their clinical and professional development.

      We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic doctor who is committed to progressing toward higher training and ultimately a consultant role. You will benefit from a personalised development plan, strong clinical supervision, and a service-wide focus on reflective practice, learning, and continuous improvement.

      Main duties and Responsibilities

      • Provide routine medical and psychiatric support including initial clerking and mental state examination of newly admitted patients
      • Carry out the assessment, appropriate investigation, diagnosis and treatment under Consultant supervision of inpatients of the unit.
      • Maintain good communication with ward nursing staff, mental health professionals and other agencies as required
      • Participate in weekly ward rounds and other multidisciplinary meetings, including CPA, Tribunal hearings & Section 117 meetings
      • Maintenance of full records of medical and psychiatric assessments and interventions
      • Preparing discharge summaries in line with company policies and guidelines
      • Attending all mandatory training e.g. BLS, ILS, Breakaway training/PMVA training, Moving and Transferring, Infection Control, H&S.
      • Communicating effectively through regular contact with patients, relatives, staff, directors, and any other concerned bodies; maintaining appropriate reports.
      • Participating in the on call rota as per hospital requirement
