We are currently run a CESR programme which includes a bespoke professional development plan tailored to meeting the needs of the individual doctor including availability of placements in Critical Care, Anaesthetics, Acute medicine and Paediatrics, as well as mentor support from a consultant that has previously attained CESR. There is the option for successful candidates to participate in this programme if desired.

At present there is an Emergency Department at both Poole and Bournemouth sites, with RBH being the designated site for PCI and stroke thrombolysis, and Poole being the designated Major Trauma Unit as well as in patient paediatric services.

This is all set to change at the end of 2024 when the Trauma Unit status moves across to Bournemouth and the ED will move into a new state of the art department in the Beach Building, alongside Paediatrics, Critical Care and Maternity.

      Main duties of the job

National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
