Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialty Doctor in Paediatrics to make a lasting difference to children with brain injury and neuro-disability. You will gain unique experience in Paediatrics, Neurorehabilitation and management of Neuro-disability. Previous experience in Paediatric Neurodisability is not required.
The Childrens Trust is the UKs leading charity for children with acquired brain injury, providing expert rehabilitation, education, therapy and care at our national specialist centre in Tadworth, and to children and their families across the UK, via our Brain Injury Community Service. Providing residential accommodation for children with highly complex neurodisability, we are the largest centre commissioned by NHS England for Category A neurorehabilitation.
You will have the opportunity to develop and implement your expertise in an environment that is focused on the highest clinical and quality standards and considered overall outstanding by the Care Quality Commission. Main duties of the job
As a Specialty Doctor, you will be a key member of the Medical Team, providing clinical care for children with brain injury and neurodisability across The Childrens Trust. You will assess new children under supervision, identify clinical risks, write medical reports, and provide regular medical support. You will receive support from Consultants in Paediatric Neurodisability, Consultant Paediatrician and Senior Specialty Doctors in Paediatric Neurodisability.
Working hours are 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday, with no obligatory Out of Hours cover.

Job responsibilities
Contributing to the admission of all new patients and providing regular medical support in consultation with the childs consultant & senior specialty doctors.
Day to day supervision of the children, attending regular unit meetings, arranging investigations, writing admission and discharge summaries.
Managing clinical cases with the support, and under the supervision, of the consultant.
Medical Ward rounds, phlebotomy, tracheostomy and gastrostomy button changes, drug charts and reports.
Attending clinics neuropsychiatry, neurology, orthopaedic, audiology, ophthalmology, dental, splint/brace, feeding, and botulinum toxin injection.
Devising emergency protocols.
Serve as a Member of the Emergency Response Team.
Medical team
Support and participate at the weekly medical team meetings.
Participate in arrangements as required by Medical Director, e.g. timely submission of annual leave requests, study leave.
Attend multi-disciplinary meetings, teaching sessions and journal clubs.

Research, Audit & Clinical Governance
To participate fully in the investigation of complaints, clinical incidents and near misses in line with The Childrens Trusts policy using IRAR (an online incident reporting system).
