- Demonstrate proficient ability to perform clinical reviews of specialty medications and make necessary interventions.
- Supervise and check work performed by specialty technicians.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare providers.
- Support leadership in building and sustaining partnerships with manufacturers and specialty providers.
- Drive key clinical and sales initiatives and help develop strategies to grow and retain specialty patient base.
- Maintain familiarity with processing and coverage details of various insurances and guide pharmacy technicians through the approval process.
- Perform appropriate practices required to maintain compliance with DC Department of Health and FDA regulations.
- Assist with specialty pharmacy accreditation application process.
- Responsible for interpretation, computer entry, and dispensing of prescriptions.
- Counsel and advise patients on their medications and regimens.
- Order specialty medications in accordance with specialty inventory management practices.
- Compound specialized creams, ointments, solutions, suppositories and troches.
- Assist in the orientation of new pharmacy staff.
- Demonstrate knowledge of basic pharmacokinetic principles.
- Analyze prescription trends and adjust purchases accordingly to maximize inventory turnover.
- Resolve patient issues and concerns in a timely and effective manner.
- Demonstrate basic pharmacist competencies in interacting and communicating with other health care professionals and patients.
- Demonstrate effectiveness in day-to-day functional supervision. Work harmoniously with co-workers.
- Demonstrate ability to handle ambiguity with professionalism while keeping patient care and compliance as priorities.

A Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Pharmacy is necessary.

Current licensure as a Registered Pharmacist by the District of Columbia or eligibility for D.C. licensure through Reciprocity or board examination is necessary.

License must be obtained within 4 months of employment.
- Three years of licensed professional pharmacy experience is required.
- One year of clinical or specialty pharmacy experience is preferred.
