- A degree / postgraduate diploma (or equivalent) in Speech and Language Therapy
- Current or pending registration with HCPC (Health Care Professions Council)
- Membership of the RCSLT (Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists)
- This role is suitable for a newly qualified or soon-to-be qualified SLT
- Placement experience in the field of Learning Disability or Autism
- An understanding of SLT theory and interventions with a hands on approach
- Willingness to learn
- Excellent Clinical Supervision, CPD and developmental opportunities
- Full support from an onsite multidisciplinary team
- Monthly NQP Competencies Support
- Quarterly SLT meetings with over 50 speech and language therapists from a range of specialisms and monthly meetings with the ALD peer network
- Full induction training is given
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays

Cygnet Cedars is a 24-bed high dependency complex care service for men with a learning disability and associated complex needs and who may have behaviours that challenge. We want the individuals in our care to make their own choices and live as independently as they are able to. To achieve this, our in-house MDT supports them with our Model of Care, which offers a psychology, speech and language and occupational therapy-led approach alongside psychiatry and nursing.

Job Role We are looking for a Newly Qualified SLT to work with an exciting caseload to assess their speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) and provide input into their therapeutic programmes that formulate part of their wider care pathway from admission to discharge. Working with individuals you will maximise their potential and to enable them to enjoy the best possible quality of life via the delivery of an evidence-based SLT service that promotes effective functional communication, social skills development, collaborative working and an appropriate total communication environment. The MDT and SLT clinical supervisor will support you to implement the approved pathway. You will be part of a companywide SLT service and there will be opportunities to contribute to service development initiatives as part of an SLT peer network working in the same clinical area of practice.
