      Job summary

Are you an enthusiastic speech and language therapist who is passionate about supporting children's speech, language and communication needs? Are you looking for a post in the beautiful South Wales valleys? Then this may be the job for you!

We are delighted to offer this 1 year fixed-term band 5 Speech and Language Therapist post.

We are looking for a therapist who works well as part of a team, has excellent communication skills and enjoys working collaboratively with others.

You will demonstrate the Health Board values and behaviours of listening, learning and improving, treating everyone with respect and always working together as one team.

      Main duties of the job

You will ensure the provision of high-quality Speech and Language Therapy services to children with a range of communication difficulties referred to the service. You will provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment and advice for children with communication difficulties that may be associated with diagnoses such as ASD, syndromes, physical disability or learning difficulties. You will liaise, as needed, with other professionals, for example health visitors, consultants, other allied health professionals and education staff.

We are a friendly and compassionate team who place a strong commitment to supporting staff well-being, supervision and continued professional development.

The children's SLT service has a range of clinical specialists available for support and second opinions and staff are fully supported by a line management structure, Paediatric Team Leads and an Admin Team. In order to be accessible to all families, we run clinics from various locations across the Health Board, so you may be asked to work in any of them.

This post is fixed term/secondment for 12 months to meet the needs of the service.

If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.

  • About the company

National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
