- Provides consultative, diagnostic, follow-up, and treatment services to hospitalized adult patients demonstrating swallowing, communication, and cognitive impairments
- Counsels patients and caregivers concerning nature of the disorder and management of the dysfunction while in-patient, as well as recommendations for post-discharge care
- Provides care in a culturally sensitive, compassionate, and respectful manner
- Works as a member of an interdisciplinary team and considers their input in making clinical decisions about a patient
- Presents and discusses cases during departmental programs and presentations
- Participates in hospital-wide and/or clinical education opportunities
- Attends department meetings, professional area meetings, and inter and intra-disciplinary conferences.
- Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skills based on current education, research, and evidence
- Identifies areas of continued growth and learning needs and maintains professional development goals
- Follows unit and hospital policies and procedures
- Masters of Speech-Language Pathology/Communication Disorders
- Clinical Competence by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
- Valid Massachusetts Speech-Language Pathology License
- 2+ years of experience as a Speech Language Pathologist
- Medical SLP experience is beneficial
- Weekend availability
- CPR Certification

The Massachusetts General Hospital Department of Speech, Language, and Swallowing Disorders has an opening for a medical SLPs to join our large and dynamic Inpatient Team. This is an exciting opportunity to provide care across the entire spectrum of adult acute care, collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, and educate future healthcare professionals. We seek a SLP with a high degree of motivation and curiosity, and who desires an environment that provides a good balance between clinical support and autonomy. The candidate will have an eagerness to grow their practice and a strong sense of peer collaboration, mentoring, and advocacy with 2+ years of experience, ideally in a tertiary care hospital.
The ideal candidate will be available for a full-time position, with weekend flexibility for Saturday or Sunday following the completion of the onboarding period. Part-time candidates will be considered.
