Job Description
- Req#: 10041
- create high-profile content (speeches, web products, articles, PowerPoint presentations, etc.) collaboratively with colleagues, reviewing and critiquing our products so we are always growing and improving
- provide suggestions for how the Bank can innovate in its dialogue with Canadians
- work cross-functionally with colleagues in Communications to nimbly respond to emerging and ongoing issues
- work on projects around our core functions as well as new areas of responsibility, sometimes involving sensitive materials
- build and maintain strong working relationships across Communications and the Bank, using strong interpersonal skills to bring together different people, styles and viewpoints to produce relatable content
- turning complex material into relatable text, preferably in the economic or financial field
- writing key messages and speaking notes for senior officials
- web and/or digital content development
- developing communications plans and products
- Language requirement: English and French essential (bilingual) with a minimum starting level of functional (level 4) in second official language. Training may be provided to help reach the required level of fully functional (level 5) in second official language.
- Priority will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents
- Security level required: Be eligible to obtain Secret
- Relocation assistance may be provided, if required

- Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $106,739 to $125,575 (job grade 17)
- The Bank offers an incentive for successfully meeting expectations at 7 to 10% of your base salary. The Bank offers performance pay for those who exceed expectations (15% of your base salary). Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.

Who we are
The Speechwriting and Policy Content team works together to help Canadians understand how the Bank of Canada promotes their economic and financial well-being.
We are a small group situated within the Communications Department that primarily writes speeches for members of the Bank’s Executive Council. We also write plain language content for the web, and we help our colleagues develop materials to make important connections with the Bank’s stakeholders and the general public.
We’re looking for an experienced communicator who can help tell our stories and explain why our work matters.
What you will do
You’ll work with talented colleagues to plan, develop and deliver communications materials for use on various platforms and channels. An innovative thinker and writer, you will develop clear, compelling messages and recommend ways the Bank can get this information in front of those who are most affected by our work—Canadians.

You can prioritize and advance multiple files, and work with colleagues to set shared goals and objectives. You will be providing advice to employees across the Bank—including senior leaders on occasion—so you’ll need excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Your education and experience
The position requires a university degree or college certificate in a relevant discipline (such as public relations, journalism or communications) with at least five to seven years of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.What you need to know
Hybrid Work Model
The Bank offers work arrangements that provide employees with flexibility, enable high-performing teams, and support an excellent workplace culture. Most employees can telework from home for a substantial part of each month as part of the Bank`s hybrid work model, and they are expected on site at the Bank location a minimum of eight days per month to help build connections between colleagues.
