      Your opportunity:
      The Office of the Vice-Principal Research (OVPR) at UTM has recently launched SpinUp, which joins the University of Toronto Entrepreneurship (UTE) network of accelerators as U of T’s first wet-lab-based incubator. SpinUp provides early-stage life science startups with affordable access to coworking lab and office spaces, infrastructure, equipment, and programming, while creating experiential learning opportunities for UTM students, and research partnerships for UTM researchers.

      The SpinUp Program Coordinator will perform an essential role by working under the direction of the Manager of Strategic Research Initiatives and Partnerships to provide day-to-day support for resident startups; liaise with partners and collaborators; organize and deliver entrepreneurship programming and events; promote SpinUp; and assist in recruitment of new members and partners.

      Your responsibilities will include:

      • Advising on communication strategies to support goals and priorities
      • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
      • Coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action and follow-up items
      • Advising on the patentability of commercially applicable aspects of inventions
      • Delivering presentations to promote programs, opportunities and/or initiatives
      • Consulting with clients regarding the development of project scope and resources
      • Determining logistical details and activities for events and/or programming
      • Serving as a resource to others by providing (non-supervisory) administrative guidance

      Essential Qualifications:

      • Bachelor's Degree in chemistry, the life sciences, or related field is required or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
      • Minimum four years of related experience.
      • Experience working in a research wet laboratory environment.
      • Experience working in an entrepreneurship environment.
      • Ability to work well with numerous partners, and in a team setting.
      • Experience coordinating projects and managing events.
      • Excellent organizational, time management and professional presentation skills.
      • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and social media platforms.


      Assets (Nonessential):

      • Graduate degree in chemistry, the life sciences, or related field (MSc, PhD).
      • Experience working with entrepreneurs within a post-secondary environment.
      • Experience working in a startup accelerator or incubator.
      • Knowledge of laboratory safety policies and procedures.
