      Come work with the Cybersecurity Services team building industry leading software whose mission is to protect the IT infrastructure of the world. You will help us keep the cyber criminals out of hospitals, schools, public safety networks and other places which directly affect real people.


      Job Description

      Motorola Solutions is looking for a Splunk engineer to maintain and operate Splunk clusters in support of cybersecurity monitoring operations at Motorola Solutions. Our customers depend on our services to keep their environments secure from cyber-threats and this role is critical to delivering the solutions they depend on.

      The ideal candidate will have a background in Linux system administration and troubleshooting to augment the Splunk administration skills.

      On site work will be required for air gapped clusters located in Schaumburg, IL.

      Responsibilities

      • Install, configure, upgrade and patch Splunk software, including search heads, indexers, and forwarders in a clustered environment.

      • Troubleshoot issues using linux operating system and application logs. Implement solutions to fix the issues.

      • Integrate Splunk with existing ITSM suite.

      • Work with owners of data sources to ensure ingested data is parsed properly.

      • Create reports, dashboards, and metrics as appropriate to measure Splunk performance.

      • Document the configuration of the clusters and preparing runbooks for common problems.


      Required Skills

      • Must have strong Linux system administration and engineering skills; must be very comfortable administering servers from the command line and working with configuration files.

      • Strong experience and expertise engineering Splunk solutions for a variety of customers.

      • Experience in using Splunk Technology Add-ons and configuring field extractions for various data sources.

      • Experience deploying Splunk indexer clusters and search head clusters.

      • Strong sense of self-motivation; ability to identify problems and develop solutions.

      Education / Certification Requirements

      • 3+ years experience with Splunk.

      • 5+ years experience in a technical IT position involving systems administration and/or systems engineering.

      • Splunk Enterprise Certified Architect desired.

      • Bachelor’s degree in related IT field, or equivalent experience.


      Basic Requirements

      • Customers exist within the US government (Federal, state, or local) and the role requires US Citizenship.
