      Description

      Are you a sports enthusiast who thrives in a team environment? Do you enjoy working with youth and inspiring them to grow through play, teamwork, and leadership? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you!

      The YMCA is looking for energetic and passionate individuals to join our Sports Program Team! In this role, you’ll help children and teens build lifelong skills through sportsmanship, teamwork, and goal-setting. You’ll create a fun and supportive environment where participants can develop friendships, grow their confidence, and stay active.

      What You’ll Do:

      • Lead and assist with a variety of seasonal sports programs, including basketball, t-ball, soccer, and flag football.

      • Referee games, run skills & drills sessions, manage equipment setup and breakdown, and ensure a safe, inclusive atmosphere for all participants.

      • Support youth summer camps and seasonal basketball leagues, including programs at a local teen center.

      • Build strong relationships with players and families by creating positive experiences and clear communication.

      • Act as a role model by promoting sportsmanship, respect, and teamwork at every session.

      • Passion for working with youth and fostering a love for sports.

      • Experience coaching, instructing, or playing sports.

      • Ability to engage with children of all abilities and adapt to evolving program needs.

      • Strong communication skills and a flexible, team-oriented attitude.

      • Availability to work varied hours based on seasonal programming needs.

      Qualifications


      • Passion for sports, youth development, and community engagement.
      • Prior experience coaching, refereeing, or playing sports (basketball experience preferred).
      • Comfortable working with children of all ages and skill levels.
      • Strong communication and leadership skills to engage with players, parents, and fellow staff.
      • Ability to run structured drills, teach fundamental skills, and foster a positive environment.
      • Basic understanding of scorekeeping, game rules, and sportsmanship principles.
      • Experience with email communication and basic record-keeping (helping with men’s basketball league logistics).
      • CPR & First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
