What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Develop, maintain, and optimize SQL queries and scripts for data validation and extraction across large clinical datasets
- Analyze and interpret data from multiple systems to support business intelligence reporting and decision-making
- Collaborate with developers and stakeholders to understand data flows and transformation logic
- Create and maintain data quality monitoring routines and reports to track data migration efforts
- Document findings from exploratory data analysis and support root-cause investigations with development and QA teams
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, or a related technical field
- 5+ years of experience developing advanced SQL queries and working with large, complex datasets in SQL Server environments
- Experience analyzing healthcare or clinical data, including familiarity with data formats such as HL7, FHIR, or VistA
- Strong understanding of data structures, indexing, performance tuning, and normalization techniques
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience supporting VA data systems, including VX130, Millennium, or the Corporate Data Warehouse (CDW)
- Familiarity with IRIS or Caché database environments and mirrored data architectures
- Exposure to Agile environments and tools such as JIRA or Azure DevOps
- Experience supporting data quality or cutover verification activities in EHR transition projects
- Knowledge of data governance practices and metadata documentation
