      POSITION SUMMARY:

      The SQL Developer II provides technical support for the District database environment including oversight, development, organization, visualization, assessment and implementation. Ensures operational efficacy through monitoring and planning for future expansion data requirements and data modeling with the use of business intelligence tools. Reviews workflow charts developed by business analysts and programmers. Develops methods for integrating different products including customization. Writes and codes logical and physical database descriptions and specifies identifiers of database to management system or direct others in coding descriptions. Assists in troubleshooting operational and development errors regarding data to ensure user experience is most productive. This position reports to the Coordinator of Enterprise Information Systems.

      KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

      Develops, designs, and maintains Extraction Transformation Loading (ETL) solutions to seamlessly integrate District infrastructure. Develops, designs, delivers, and maintains enterprise-reporting methods utilizing District Data Warehouse. Develops, designs, and maintains database solutions using SQL, functions, procedures, views and other RDBMS techniques.

      Designs and documents database architecture using logical and physical data modeling tools and utilities. Creates, tests, and executes data management languages. Analyzes and sustains capacity and performance requirements. Monitors systems and platforms; oversees backup, clustering, mirroring, replication and failover. Trains and develops technical staff to better utilize on-line processing databases environment. Designs and executes the test scripts and test scenarios.

      Performs daily system monitoring and back-up operations, verifies the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes; reviews system and application log. Collaborates with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyzes tradeoffs between usability and performance needs. Acts as a liaison between the business units, technology teams and support teams.

      Investigates, documents, and recommends new solutions to improve the District Technology. Assists system administrators in securing access, application data loads, storage and performance strategies, and implementations.

      All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.

      KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:

      1. Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following subject areas: Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Technology or related field required.

      OR

      1. Have completed two (2) years of college coursework (sixty [60] semester hours) in Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field AND technical certification(s) required.

      Minimum of five (5) years of experience using Microsoft SQL Server in a clustered environment required. Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles and practices.

      Requires district coordination; makes decisions and recommendations which affect District employees, students, parents and constituents.

      Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD) or Microsoft Certified Applications Developer (MCAD) desired.

      Analytical: supervisor is available to review established broad objectives; independent judgment is required to review and approve major recommendations.

      Requires excellent interpersonal skills as well as regular, frequent contact with internal and external personnel of influence and decision-making responsibility to discuss issues of moderate importance; requires occasional contact with officials at higher levels.

      Responsible for multiple functions in developing solutions with high-level accountability for effective operation and results.

      Apply, recommend and implement technology solutions to improve the effectiveness of district objectives. Light lifting or carrying; twenty (20) lbs. or less.

      Normal office setting.

      Moderate travel across the district with occasional travel for off-site training.

      Light duty - On most occasions sitting at a desk or table; intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping.

      NOTE: This is a grade 28, 225 day position that pays for experience up to a Step 8.
