As a SQL Server Database Administrator, you will play a crucial role in managing and maintaining our organization’s SQL Server databases. You’ll work closely with the Data Platform team to ensure the reliability, performance, and security of our database systems. In this role, you will be required to work PHL night shift to interface with US counterparts during training, with the option to move to day shift after training.

What you will do:

• Database Configuration and Maintenance:

• Maintain SQL Server database servers and processes.
• Monitor system health, performance, and resource utilization.
• Ensure high levels of performance, availability, sustainability, and security.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in real time.
• Perform Tier 1 database support including receiving on call alert notifications.

• Backup and Recovery:

• Manage database backup and recovery strategies.
• Regularly monitor maintenance job output and results.

• Security and Access Control:

• Assist in managing user access and permissions.
• Implement security best practices to protect sensitive data.
• Monitor and address security vulnerabilities.

• Performance Optimization:

• Collaborate with developers to optimize SQL queries and improve database performance.
• Identify bottlenecks and recommend solutions.

• Monitor and fine-tune database performance parameters.

• Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate documentation related to database configurations, processes, and procedures.
• Generate regular reports on database health, performance, and security.

• Collaboration and Learning:

• Work closely with the software development team to support application development and deployment.
• Learn from senior DBAs and actively participate in knowledge-sharing sessions.
• Stay updated on industry trends and best practices.

What you should bring:

• 1-2 years of experience with SQL Server or similar relational database system.
• Familiarity with Transact-SQL (T-SQL) for querying and scripting.
• Basic understanding of database design principles.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Skills:

• Exposure to other database platforms (e.g., Oracle, MySQL) is a plus.
• Certification in SQL Server administration (e.g., MCSA: SQL Server) is advantageous.
• Exposure to database monitoring tools (Red Gate SQL Monitor, Idera SQLdm, etc.) is a plus.
