      Inside the Role

      As part of the Daimler Trucks North America Treasury Accounting Group, the Sr. Accountant III will be responsible for executing all In-House Bank related accounting tasks. Performing confirmation and reconciliation of inter-company balances with affiliated companies on a monthly basis. Coordination, preparation and submission of financial information for Daimler Truck Finance North America LLC (DTFNA) and Daimler Truck Finance Canada INC (DTFCI) for the Group Financial Statements. Preparation and compilation of the audited stand-alone financial statements of DTFNA and DTFCI. Learn new technology as appropriate to address business needs and utilize the technology capabilities to the treasury accounting team’s advantage. Develop and review business process maps, technical documentation, design documents, configuration, and enhancement requests.

      Position offers a starting salary range of $ 90,000.00 - $115,000.00 USD

      Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience.

      Financial Reporting Tasks:

      • Execution and oversight of financial reporting tasks and month-end close activities associated with Treasury Accounting

      • Analytical review of financial information, and review of operation of relevant systems, transactions, processes and controls to ensure the proper recording of and the accurate and timely filing of internal financial statements to Daimler.

      • Calculate, prepare and post treasury related journal entries and validate all system interfaces feeding SAP cbFC and / or MIF.

      • Interface with Accounting, Treasury and other Daimler internal parties to produce reports and provide analysis related to resolution of complex treasury issues.

      General Ledger Accounting and Financial Analyses:

      • Review of general ledger account reconciliations and financial analyses to ensure that financial transactions are recorded in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)

      • Apply relevant guidance and perform necessary analysis for all Treasury Accounting activities.

      • Review of reconciliations monthly to ensure accuracy and quality is maintained for Treasury Accounting related transactions and balances including daily account reconciliation, interest calculation and balance confirmation. Perform hard-close and year-end Accounting tasks as required.

      • Manage special (ad-hoc) assignments and projects as they arise

      Business Partnering:

      • Research various accounting issues and propose appropriate accounting treatment, resolve accounting/reporting issues to ensure proper accounting standards and best practices are applied

      • Work closely with Business Partners to identify process improvements, internal control improvements, and various accounting issues. Work to effect organizational or system change in order to achieve productivity, efficiency and control improvements. Develop and review business process maps, technical documentation, design documents, configuration, and enhancement requests. Learn new technology as appropriate to address business needs and utilize the technology capabilities to Treasury team’s advantage.

      • Respond timely to business partner requests

      Methods, Processes and Systems:

      • Research relevant new accounting issues and propose appropriate accounting treatment.

      • Draft white papers supporting proper IFRS accounting treatment related to technical accounting issues and matters.

      • Monitor and analyze current and developing legislation and regulations affecting Treasury Accounting.

      • Coordinate and ensure on an ongoing basis the completion of internal projects related to sound accounting processes and compliance with all IAS and IFRS accounting standards.

      • Prepare documentation of new and/or existing processes and policies.

      • Possess a solid understanding of cbFC-SAP integration with non-SAP systems such as the treasury accounting system (GTS).

      Reporting/Communication of Financial Results and Coordination of Financial (regulatory) Filings:

      • Communication of financial results and key performance metrics (KPI's) to management

      • Prepare and review KPI reporting metrics presented to management

      • Communicate issues and exceptions to accounting management and the external audit team

      • Provide quarterly external audit support and perform year-end accounting reporting.

      • Preparation and compilation of the audited stand-alone financial statements of DTFNA and DTFCI

      • Perform evaluation of Internal Controls over Financial Reporting and ensure that the necessary controls are documented and tested in accordance with the Company's internal requirements, including the coordination and design documents, effectiveness testing, and remediation where necessary.

      • Work with the business partners to identify internal control improvements

      Cross-Functional Project Work:

      • Exhibit leadership in working cross functionally with business units to implement new business processes as a result of changes in business or accounting requirements.

      • Routinely monitor, track and report progress of implementation on complex projects. Drive organizational and/or system changes to meet Continuous Improvement and TOS objectives.

      • Lead and participate in cross-functional continuous improvement activities to improve the overall quality of process in which the treasury accounting group participates. Using LEAN and continuous improvement techniques, evaluate and re-engineer business processes to achieve standardization and cost optimization within the treasury accounting processes.

      Knowledge You Should Bring

      • Bachelors degree with a focus in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college/university with 3-5 years of relevant experience required

      • Reporting Standards (IFRS) accounting principles

      • Good written and verbal communication skills to operate up, down, or across the organization

      • Detailed oriented, strategic thinking for continuous improvement, demonstrates initiative

      • Analytical, problem solving and root cause identification skills

      • Being a team player focused on adding value and achieving results for both Finance and the company

      • Microsoft Excel / PowerPoint skill set

      • Work independently – no other Treasury team members

      • Ownership and improvement of current process

      • Not afraid to ask for help including outside of team

      • Problem solving and time management skills

      • Ability to work with manager in a different time zone

      • Must be able to work flexible hours

      • Work holidays when required

      • Work weekends when required

      Exceptional Candidates Might Have

      • 5-7 years of related experience preferred

      • CPA preferred with IFRS 9 Hedge Accounting knowledge

      • Experience in a manufacturing environment using automated accounting systems and familiarity with International Finance

      • SAP - cbFC system experienced
