- Ensures company rights are protected by supporting complete system compliance with all local
- Prepares accurate correspondence, comprehensive reports and memoranda relating to franchise and/or regulatory compliance matters and system/operations issues utilizing knowledge of company policies and procedures.
- Assists internal customers in understanding and complying with laws and regulations and resolving identified issues/problems. Participates in company annual internal audits.
- Maintain a tracking system for franchise fees and other franchise obligations.
- Maintains system public drop program for video services to cities, towns, counties and schools as required.
- Serves as initial franchise liaison for inquiries, problems and issues raised by franchise authorities; and/or serves as initial liaison for inquiries, problems and issues raised by other regulatory jurisdictions, including but not limited to PUCs and the FCC.
- Researches correspondence from cities/towns, counties, Better Business Bureau, State Attorney
- General’s Office, PUCs and/or the FCC and drafts responses for review and signature.
- Ensures local municipality confidence in company’s ability to comply with ordinance and franchise requirements and/or PUC confidence in company to comply with telephony regulations and tariffs.
- Assists in coordinating the timely filing of required regulatory reports and other documentation, including periodic regulatory reports, responses to government inquiries and data requests.
- Develops and maintains manuals on methods and procedures to ensure long-term regulatory compliance, consistency and continuity.
- Engages in cross-training to both learn and teach, to ensure the adequate training and development of the team guaranteeing the long-term regulatory compliance and performance of the Company.
- Ensures customer satisfaction through timely resolution of customer complaints referred to
- Maintains a database of government-referred customer complaints and monitors and interfaces
- Develops and manages municipal relationships as directed.
- Supports government relations team in scheduling, preparing and providing system updates and
- Assists in negotiation of local cable licenses, as directed.
- Assists internal departments with all government requests, i.e., building permits, hub sites, audits, etc.
- If qualified and directed by leadership, may represent and advocate on Cox’s behalf before external groups as directed. May be required to register as a lobbyist.
- If qualified, may represent the Company in small claims court.
- Managing Local and State Business Licenses
- Ensures timely application and renewal of local and/or state licenses and certifications required for specific business operation activities, tax collection and sales activities. (e.g. sales tax collection, door to door sales activities, home security services)
- Provides updates to the company’s license management data base as directed.
- Political Engagement and Policy Support
- Supports company’s political advocacy and employee engagement efforts and activities as directed. (voter education; voter registration; PACs, political advocacy; etc)
- Prepares and submits lobbying and political expenditure reports as required by local, state or
- Assists leadership with identifying and researching public policy issues to enable the company to take proactive positions on issues. Resources include monitoring relevant Internet sites, blogs, trade publications and other news sources.
- Assists leadership with government relations projects as directed.
- Assists leadership with budget management relating to government affairs.
- Performs other duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (Political Science, Marketing, Business, Public Relations, Communications, etc.) and 4 years’ experience in a related field (Public Relations, Communications, Government Affairs, etc.). The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and 2 years’ experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience; or 8 years’ experience in a related field.
- Requires strong knowledge of MS Office applications, i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
- Excellent customer service skills, verbal and written communication skills, multi-tasking, time management, organization and collaboration skills to work effectively throughout the organization and the community
- BS/BA degree in related discipline strongly desired (i.e. Political Science, Marketing, Business, Public Relations, Communications, etc.)
- Experience in telecommunications industry desired
