      Job Description:

      The Senior Analyst, Transportation ensures the robustness and vitality of our transportation network by actively contributing to the performance maintenance of the network and our carriers. In addition to identifying issues, this role is involved in diagnosing problems and recommending solutions to enhance cost efficiencies, service quality, and transit time. This role is driven by a continuous pursuit of excellence, constantly working towards achieving the optimal transportation network for both the present and the future of Mazda.

      The Senior Analyst, Transportation is part of the Vehicle Logistics team that handles every vehicle that is destined to a U.S. customer. We set the first impression to the dealers when we deliver the product to them. We continuously look for improvements to enrich the journey with our transportation carriers and deliver experiences as exceptional as our cars.

      Network Analysis 50%

      • Optimize the vehicle logistics transportation network, examining route performance and rates to identify opportunities for enhancing service, reducing costs, improving quality, transit time and boosting overall network efficiency.

      • Perform forecasting and predictive modeling to determine the best routes for network changes/ enhancements.

      • Enforce SLA are upheld with 3PL to ensure Mazda KPI’s are achieved. Implement corrective actions with partners to optimize inventory efficiency, enhance transportation network velocity, and improve the predictability of estimated delivery times.

      • Manage current and essential route diversions to ensure uninterrupted pipeline flow. Monitor and track vehicle movement within the pipeline, analyzing railcar movement, truck releases, port and ramp outages, and inventory at rail ramps to identify and implement areas for prioritization or corrections.

      Network Performance Management 30%

      • Support Mazda’s transportation network in alignment with MNAO strategic goals.

      • Maintain adherence to Mazda's standards (dwell days, labor/equipment supply, etc), while effectively handle service exceptions and delays, while applying a root cause approach for corrective action. Engage with 3PL to achieve desired outcomes.

      • Partner with management to create strategies to achieve cost targets and inventory efficiency goals across the logistics network.

      • Oversee continuous improvement projects with 3PL and ensure successful implementation of approved initiatives.

      Contract Administration 20%

      • Review and analyze contracts to ensure they accurately reflect the terms and conditions to ensure mutual understanding and agreement in accordance with company policies and procedures.

      • Develop presentation material to obtain management approval.

      • Proactively review and ensure contracts are up-to-date, including amendments, extensions, renewals, and related documentation. Conduct semi-annual performance reviews with 3PL management to ensure logistics partners are performing to contractual obligations and implement corrective actions as needed to maintain Mazda’s standards.

      • Maintain positive effective relationships with vendors, clients and other stakeholders involved in the contract process.

      Qualifications and Other Requirements:

      Education (Minimum):

      Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, or related field; or equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience required.

      Experience:

      • Minimum five (5) years of related experience in Logistics and/or Supply Chain Management required.

      • Experience in the automotive/OEM industry, preferred.

      Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

      • Strong analytical skills & strategic planning. Must demonstrate excellent analytical, problem solving, and interpersonal skills in providing solutions to internal and external departments and management.

      • Knowledge in utilizing and maintaining a transportation network, preferably transporting vehicles.

      • Knowledge of OEM shipping requirements regarding quality and performance.

      • Demonstrated understanding of transportation damage claims process and repair process. Proficient working with database software, mainframe database tools, and Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access).

      • Demonstrated financial acumen. Utilize fundamental concepts of finance to manage budgets, forecast costs, and provide information to account for the financial impact of decision-making.

      • Demonstrated understanding of carrier negotiation and contracting, transportation routing systems and freight payment systems.

      • Communicate effectively and efficiently (oral and written) with working levels, management, dealers, and vendors.

      • Good organizational skills and ability to multi-task.

      Pay Range:

      $74,400.00-$107,850.00

      Salary to be determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
