Role: Sr Director PRA – Lilly International - Obesity Environment Shaping and PRA for early Diabetes & Obesity assets

      Path/Level: P5

The main focus of the role is on leading Lilly International Obesity Environment shaping efforts. An additional focus is on driving PRA for early Diabetes & Obesity assets.

      Obesity Environment Shaping

Today, over 650 million adults live with obesity globally. For people living with obesity, it impacts their lives at many levels, including their health. Obesity is a serious disease which is also a risk factor for over 200 medical conditions, including type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obstructive sleep apnea, depression, cancer etc. Obesity is a chronic disease with underlying pathophysiology which gets in the way of sustained weight loss. Despite significant unmet needs, less than 3% of people living with obesity are treated with pharmacological treatment. This is driven by access barriers and misperception across key customer groups (policy makers, payers, HCPs,…) that obesity is a lifestyle issue.

Lilly International is on a journey of shaping the environment to eliminate the weight stigma that people living with obesity face by changing the narrative on obesity to one that is coherent with scientific evidence and that enables access to pharmacological treatment.

As a key player for coordinating the obesity Environment Shaping (ES) efforts across Lilly International, the Sr Director PRA will have two main responsibilities:

      • Partner across multiple functions (DBU, PRA, CA, Medical, VEO and Marketing) and Hubs to develop a coherent obesity ES strategy for Lilly International that secures reimbursement.
      • Ensure a disciplined execution of this ES strategy across Lilly International to progress along key milestones.

      The Sr Director PRA will:

      • Lead an efficient governance with IBU functions, key affiliates and Global to develop ES strategy and execute plans.
      • Elevate the internal knowledge and generate confidence regarding obesity and the incredible opportunity that tirzepatide and other pipeline assets bring to improve the health of people with obesity and unlock the obesity opportunity across Lilly International.
      • Build with key affiliates a clear understanding of the current obesity care pathway and a prioritized stakeholder map with current and desired beliefs (“From” “To”). Map the political/policy situation, the steps and strategic engagements needed with policy makers, professional obesity societies, patient advocacy groups and the public to change the narrative around obesity to one that is coherent with science. The geographical scope includes Emerging Markets.
      • Work with VEO (Value Evidence and Outcome) and other functions to assess what additional evidence generation is needed targeted towards local policy makers/payers to support the case for anti-obesity treatment reimbursement.
      • Align with key affiliates on an ES strategy, action plans with prioritized solutions (impact vs effort), reimbursements options and next steps with the support from the IBU core team and in compliance with local regulations and laws. Track progress of key environmental shaping milestones and bring visibility on milestones to cross functional workstreams and leadership.
      • Integrate cross-functional workstreams (incl. affiliate launch readiness, customer plan guidance) within International and with Global to eliminate duplication and ensure synergy. Provide affiliate guidance and partner with key affiliates to ensure ES strategy is embedded into Customer Plans.
