      Overview

      General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems manufactures and sells a broad range of high-performance electro-mechanical and electro-optical components and sub-assemblies to the aerospace, defense, intelligence, reconnaissance, and surveillance markets.

      We presently have a need for a Sr Electrical Engineer at our San Diego (Otay Mesa) location. This role is eligible for a referral bonus.

      Preferred experience for this role:

      • Designs and develops new brushed and multiphase brushless DC electric motors.
      • Improves existing designs to reduce cost, improve performance or manufacturability.
      • Conducts detailed reviews of customer specifications.
      • Prepares or directs preparation of product and/or system layout and detailed drawings and schematics.
      • Performs design experiments related to motor designs and develops test methods, from concept to planning and execution stage.
      • Directs and coordinates manufacturing and testing of prototype products and/or systems.
      • Assists in troubleshooting prototype building and/or production when necessary.
      • Conducts motor performance predictions by analyzing actual data and through the development of design-related algorithms in addition to the existing methods.
      • May act as project engineer support on selected projects.
      • Interfaces with customers as required to support existing products or for new development opportunities.

      Major Position Responsibilities

      • Designs, develops, and tests electrical equipment, components, circuits, or systems.
      • Applies mathematical and engineering principles and methods to designs.
      • Performs extensive testing and validation of designs to ensure reliability, performance, and safety standards are achieved.
      • Conducts research and studies new technologies to innovate and design solutions or products.

      Basic Qualifications

      • Required Education and Experience: Associate's Degree and 5-7 years experience
      • Preferred Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree
      • Discipline/Major: Electrical Engineering or other Engineering degree required
      • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Oral and Written Communication, Analytical Thinking, Circuit Design, Computer Simulation, Design Optimization, Electrical Engineering, Mathematical Analysis, Mathematical Modeling, Programming, Prototyping, Reliability Analysis, Requirements Engineering/Analysis, Research and Development, Schematic Capture, Electro-Mechanical Components/Instruments, CAD Software, Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) Software.
      • Critical Professional Related Technical Skills; Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

      Pay Range (USD)

      $82,005-$152,295

      The salary range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum for salary for this position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, internal equity, and relevant education or training.       Additional Compensation

      Hired applicants may be eligible to participate in the Company's Gain Sharing Program.
